Anyone had a problem trying to use the Alignment tool (align to left, to right, top or bottom) but it comes up gray'd out? Was working fine but now I can't align the objects anymore...?

You need to first select the text before those will become active.

Thanks Scott, but its not the text that won't align, its the actual objects I have on the page that won't align if I select a couple of them. I have different shapes on the page that until recently, when I selected 2 or 3 of them, I could align them all...now when I go to the alignment section the four choices are gray'd out?

Those options will only appear when text is selected a certain way. If you are trying to align multiple objects, you either single click on each holding the shift-key down or yo lasso them all at once. The alignment options will then appear.
