Hi, I just purchased SCCPro and Designer Pro, is there any way on the sub categories rather than listing all the sub categories on the side menu, have a facility where you hover on the category and a dropdown menu appears for the shopper to pick one of the sub categories?

That was the first question I asked when I got hold of SCC Pro. At this point, the answer seems to be "No." You can, however, find that at least one of the templates with top navigation works this way.
Here's my question, as posed to Scott, and his answer:
Q: Subcategories, as a group, is the feature that I've needed the most in SCC Pro, and it's great that they are there! I've noticed a difference in the way they're handled in themes with top navigation vs left or right side navigation. Specifically, in a theme with top navigation, subcategory titles appear only in a dropdown when "Categories" is selected. In the side navigation themes, the subcategory titles always appear directly underneath the Category title. In a shop with a large number of categories and subcategories, it seems like the side nav bar would be unwieldy and require many pages of scrolling to see the entire list.
Is there a way to hide the subcategories so that they appear in a popup, similar to the way they become visible when using a top navigation theme?
A: "Unfortuantely there is no way to control something like that without
us creating a new base template for SCD which is something we plan on
doing in one of the next versions."
Here's hoping that this accomplished -- I much prefer side-navigation menus.

Thanks for that guys, I'd pretty much worked it out but it confirms what I thought might be the case...
I guess we can wait for a future update

I use the "Clean Slate" theme with left navigation, and it does exactly what you want. Or at least what I think you want.

Thanks Yankee, not quite what I had in mind but closer....I'll sort that later and thanks for the heads up.
Can someone tell me if there is a template available now that performs the actions described in this thread? I am looking for a SCD Pro theme with the navigation on the left side that allows you to hover over the category to expand the subcategories. Thanks.
I looked at the one I use now in SCD and the Subs are there... They just don't show up on my posted site. It may have something to do with the fact you had an existing store you upgraded to the new version? You might try starting a "new" store from scratch and see if it works there?
I would buy SCC Pro today if it enabled me to create a sub-sub categories and I would tell all my friends to buy it too. Sadly, as this thread is nearly 2 years old, I'm guessing they (Coffecup) are not going to do anything about it - So I will continue to use *Something else*.

nah I think he said "sub-sub" which means he wants at least one more deep and the SCC programs cannot do that as of yet.
