WHY WHY WHY did my laptop crash just after XP stopped being available? ARGH!
anyway....the FTP client is working. Color schemer seems to - until I try to grab a color from the screen. UAC is turned off, shot, and burned at the stake.
I'm on a Gateway Windows Vista Home Premium yada yada yada.
Any solutions for this? I *need* my color schemer!

I have discovered the same problem here and have contacted CC. I'll let you know if I hear about a solution.
Later: The folks at CC know about the issue and have it on their to-do list. No fixed completion date yet.

Oh, man! I'm really hindered by this. I don't want to go buy another app to do this...
Doesn't work on Vista Ultimate eather but doesn't crash - just picks the black #000000 - Need a fix
The issue is still on the to-do list for the programmers. We haven't had any news about it.

Has there been any more news about a fix for color schemer. I find it to be a great tool ... just a pity it doesn't work with my Vista.
you know, mine started working last week. Odd, since I didn't do anything different.
a plugin for photoshop that I was having problems with started working spontaneously as well!
I wonder if one of those nightly vista upgrades did something?

Must not be a very high priority on the to-do list? I'm a new user, using the latest download available (3.0) and I get the black screen using Color Schemer's color picker on Vista Ultimate with aeroglass enabled. Haven't tried it without aeroglass so don't know if that's the problem area or not. I have another color picker from a different source that works without any problem under Ultimate with aeroglass so know it can be done.
If only I had dealt with this sooner. I just now installed Color Schemer in Vista and see the black screen mentioned. To test the theory of bboyer, I changed Themes from Vista's Aero to Classic (like XP) and the color picker works. So, in the meantime, you can right-click on your desktop and choose:
Personalization -> Theme -> Windows Classic
OR
keep the theme, but change the color scheme from Windows Aero to Windows Vista Basic:
Right-click on your desktop and choose:
Personalization -> Window Color and Appearance -> "Open classic appearance properties for more color options" -> Color scheme: Windows Vista Basic.

Here's an article showing steps to make shortcuts to quickly & easily turn Aero on & off with one click:

Even adding to that, you can make keyboard shortcuts based on the previous link:

Version 3.0 Trial from download 12/21/07 still did not fix this.
I did get the screen capture tool to work by switching the color theme to Windows Vista Basic as quoted above.
However just switching off the aero interface by using the shortcut method described above did not fix it. I still got the black screen after turning off aero with the shortcut.
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
