Not to seem to dense BUT if using Grid should one actually design the entire site with it or just design a grid template and than open in SD-3??? OR is it just a good idea to actually design or re-design a site in SD-3 only?

My RSD v-1.5 does open with no problem in V-3 BUT with 65+ pages seems converting is going to be a problem thinking if I have to spend much time converting may be best than to rebuild from scratch using SD-3.

What is the main purpose of starting with the Grid ap and than reopening in SD-3???

You don't need to start in CSS Grid Builder and then import. Just start in SD3 since it already does CSS Grid.

One thing you need to plan for is IE11. So knowing Fallback First is important. See my post at

Thanks Brian I appreciate the reply, will work with SD3 only was confused if I should start in Grid 1st and than reopen in V3. Will definitely look into the IE 11 Fallback First and thanks for the link.

I bought a copy of CSS Grid Builder before I realized it was already in SD3 ... oh well ... I don't mind supporting CoffeeCup Software.

CSS Grid Builder is free. It was the very first thing they launched as a beta type of thing. SD3 will be the app that gets all the updates on a regular basis.

Not free. I paid $69 a couple of months ago, at a discounted price.
Then, before I could even learn how to use it I upgraded RSD to SD3.
Lo and behold, all the stuff in GridBuilder is in SD3 so I might as well delete GridBuilder.
And BTW, GridBuilder is now priced at $129, but I don't know if anyone is buying it.
I like Coffeecup, but don't think they did the right thing here.

Oh my mistake!

There is a free version of Grid Builder but I see they also have a paid version. There is some very key differences betweeen these two apps. I would suggest if you have a working experience with RSD to use SD3. There are some out there that don't need all the extras of SD3 so CSS Grid Builder would be a better choice.

As for SD3, this is a much more powerful app then the Registered version of Grid builder. So think of it as two different apps. As always you should try the free trial before you purchase either.

I have the full version of GridBuilder, also up-to-date SD-3.
As far as I can tell, there is nothing that GridBuilder will do, that SD-3 won't.
I'm planning to uninstall GridBuilder.
Anybody see any downside to that?

If you do not have any of the previous versions of RSD that had components one may want to keep GridBuilder as it does have components you could use if needed in SD3. SD3 currently does not have components for Foundation or Bootstrap.

SD3 Doesn't have any components at all.
