There are sub-domains, and then there are 'wanna-be' sub-domains!
Creating a folder on your server and uploading a website to it, does not mean it is a 'sub-domain'.
Case in point, I have a folder on my server
gunsmoke.me titled
caronrider
I access this folder as
http://gunsmoke.me/caronrider That does not mean it is a sub-domain. But it works.
On my hosing control panel, I can create a 'sub-domain' titled
caronrider
I would then access it as
http://caronrider.gunsmoke.me That is a sub-domain.
But then I could also buy a domain name '
caronrider.com' and attach it to my sub-domain.
I would then access it as
http://caronrider.com
All 3 of these examples go to the same directory on my server. One is a folder, one a sub-domain that accesses the same folder, and the last is a registered domain name that points to that folder.
Can it get any more confusing ?? Let me know if you still have questions.
