HTLM Site to VSD

This is most likely a dumb question, but I will ask anyway. I currently have a site that has been up and running for a few years now that I did originally in HTML Editor. If I redesign it use VSD, and publish it will it simply over write the files that I uploaded to my S-Drive account.

Thanks Scott. I really thought it would, but I did not want to spend a lot of time on a re-design and have an issue when I went to publish it.
