Hi All -

I've got some questions, hopefully someone with a little more experience can enlighten me.

I got started on VSD version 3 and its been working ok for me up to this point. I upgraded to the latest and greatest as I'm looking for a little more functionality. My current site is:

Being my first website, I think it works ok but now that I have a host with unlimted space, I'm going back and reworking things. So, onto my questions (finally right? ;-) )

1. On my current website, I'm loading a lot of thumbnails to cut down on load times. Pictures that I think are particularly useful, I'll link to a full size picture on another page. As such, my actual website file as literally 200 pages that I need to manage. When I want to "show a page" I have to scroll thru all those pages. Is there a BETTER way to organize this?

2. What I thought would be a good idea would be to have thumbnails,that mouseover to fullsize pics. This works ok, except if any of the mouseovers intrude on the picture next to it, stuff starts getting cut off. This mouseover solves my having all those extra pages to manage, but creates other issues with positioning text. I was thinking maybe the photogallery thingy might work, but I've got a LOT of text I need to add. Again, are there any BETTER ways I might go about this?

3. Finally, I've started a new webpage file in VSD v5.9. I cannot get this new file to upload using the "UPLOAD" button. I get the message of:

The program could not gain acces to enter and read the content of a catalog on the server. Many different things can cause this so you should try later.

However, it WILL upload my old webpage file created in v3.0. My old webpage file is called INDEX.VNU, my new webpage file is called NEW WEBSITE.VNU. Do the names have any impact on the upload function? Anything else that might cause this to work with one file and not the other? Possible Bug?

Latest and greatest, huh? Well, I'd recommend upgrading to VSD 5.94 (latest and greatest soon to be 6.0) as a lot of FTP work has been done since 5.9. That might help the catalog issue.

I believe it to be 5.94. Its whatever the current version is as I just downloaded it ths week.

Any ideas why a version 3 file would work and not a newly created file in v.5.94 wouldn't?

I'm so confused

I've been fortunate enough to not have the catalog error yet, but the downside is it's hard to help troubleshoot not having seen it. If you do the "Test the Internet Connections" under Settings, do you get all OKs?

I'm not sure if trying Re-Sync will help out all, but it's worth a shot.

my little experience has been always keep image names and pages single word names example of image: <bad)litte Richard.jpg vs (good)LitteRichard.jpg

Not connecting error#9, I was using SmartFTP trial going back and forth with my hosting provider for weeks. Now with Coffee Cup It's not as easy as both claim for me so far. Both companies are great at getting back with me on my challenge. However, weeks later I'm still trying to figure this out. What could I be doing wrong? Going back and fourth with my hosting provider I am embarrassed, I'm also getting error number 67 deny access. Can anyone help thanks?

Which program are you using?
Is your info correct per Comcast?

If I do a test internet connections, nothing happens, everything is grayed out and the test window just sits. I tried disabling my firewall thinking maybe that was it, but it didn't works. What is confusing me, is that it VSD will load my website from v3.0, but not anything made in the latest version


Thanks Bruce. My current site is with with Chevytalk.ORG (car forum) and I get the space as part of my subscription with the forum. I don't know who the actual host is. My new site will be with Startlogic

I don't think the problem is with VSD, but if you would like to test it out ,I have an extra server for testing if you would like to test VSD, I can give you some info to upload some test pages if you'd like (new version VSD 5.94) just email me.
