Thanks Greg for the compliments and suggestions. I am waiting for CC to introduce the new program that will create responsive sites without coding. Hopefully by the end of the year. (I own all but two of the Windows based CC apps, Lockbox & something else, can't remember). As you suggest, SEO is extremely important and I spend a lot of time researching like you to create effective keywords and meta data. I am pretty much a novice at this. I started creating sites using VSD for some small companies my wife and I owned. I got enough compliments from those sites and requests from a few clients to create a site for them. A couple years ago, we sold our business interests and I "retired". God was I bored. So I started a web design business. I don't expect to compete with the "big boys", but there is definitely a market for me. I don't charge an arm and leg because I don't have to. I am using the S-Drive system to handle the server chores and suggest my clients allow me to keep their sites hosted there. I can offer superior service because I have the time and interest to help local small businesses. It really is fun for me to create something that works and hopefully looks good at the same time. But, you are right. If no-one views your work because of poor SEO, what good is it? So I spend a good amount of time researching to get better at that side of the equation. But I still have a lot to learn.

Hi,

2 new sites, both of them Dutch-language (but I know all of you can understand that easily :-))

1: http://www.tehuurinspanje.info (apartment rental in Albir Playa, Spain, where I stay 4 months when it's cold overhere; that's how I got this customer). Not responsive of course, but made only 800 pixels wide, so it looks rather good on a tablet/phone (and in the header I placed <meta name=viewport content="width=800">, so on a tablet/phone the site fills the screen from left to right perfectly).

2: http://www.harryniehof.nl . Harry is a musician, and a long time friend since the seventies when I played with him in a R&R group, The Dead Rabbits. This site is more ambitious. Although it has <meta name=viewport content="width=812"> inserted in the header -it's 812 pixels wide of course- to look good on a tablet/phone, on a big screen it has a responsive but fixed background on every page -the background adapts to the screen size, but stays on it's place when scrolling-, sometimes even a slideshow this way ( see http://harryniehof.nl/MuziekTwijduustern.html ) or video ( see http://harryniehof.nl/clips.html ). This was not easy to accomplish for a VSD user, I had to resolve a lot of puzzles, to use a lot of CSS and HTML to get this result. But I like the result.... I hope you like it too.

Regards, John

Nice work, John. :)
The musician's site is impressive, hard to believe that's VSD. Well done!
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by. (Douglas Adams)

I have too many VSD sites to listed them separately. We do a lot of website work for small businesses, law firms and non-profits. Below is a link to our portfolio. We can help you design a website or just help with VSD. Just follow the menu from the page below.

Nice websites Bill! Have you had a chance to look into Responsive Layout Maker? I used to build a lot of websites with VSD but have made the move to responsive design as more and more people look at your websites on mobile devices. You can find out more about it here : http://www.coffeecup.com/responsive-layout-maker-pro/
