Yes I have looked into RLM. I'm waiting for the new version to come out by years end. Several of my clients have mixed emotions on responsive sites. Most of my clients like having mobile versions with the ability to see the full site. Some responsive sites cut down too much information in their smaller versions and don't make it easy for users to choose the full versions. I'm sure they will eventually evolve, but most don't want to jump yet.

Bill, the idea behind responsive web design is that the entire website is there for any screen size. Typically, it was mobile sites that would strip out content from the full desktop version.
For clients, the big advantage is they only have one site to maintain and update. Plus, it doesn't matter what phone their sites are viewed on – no worries about screen size or orientation. For many people, a mobile device is their primary or only computer.

Many of your sites would be well-suited for resp. design. The Lybrand site could work very well on any device, with exactly the same content. Your own site** would also be a great one to start with –very easy to adapt the layout. You could grab a free trial of RLM and start experimenting so you'll be ready when you get the new version.

I agree. However many of the responsive designs I've seen scale back info in the smallest versions. Many also change their navigation from their full sites which can confuse users that have become familiar with the desktop versions. I realize much of this has to do with the design and is not inherent to responsive websites. Your website is designed very well

We will be moving to responsive designs but we are jumping a little bit slower. We want to study the best designs and make sure we provide the best work. To be honest, I've seen more poorly designed responsive sites because folks jumped without thinking.

We are also waiting for RSD before we offer responsive sites commercially.

Also, a quick question. Can small sites built on VSD actually become SEO friendly? Or is that a complete waste of time trying to improve this? Focus more on driving traffic elsewhere via PPC and social media etc? Thanks.

Yes you can definitely spend time on improving SEO for a VSD website. There are some options built right into the application that can be found under Edit>Edit Keywords and Description or press CTRL+Alt+K, there you can also find a place to insert your website analytics code or press CTRL+Alt+G

A VSD website is just like any other website out there. The only thing its lacking in is responsiveness. The websites built with VSD do not look that great on mobile devices and you will lose a little SEO with that.

thanks a bunch for your quick reply. All sounds good with regards Seo. I guess it's about putting time and effort in over the coming years that will slowly drive this. Hopefully I'll learn a thing or two along the way.

I see that it's important to get your key words into your 'header'. Now it's kind of awkward positioning the header when entered into the 'header' section in VSD. Any other feedback on the layout etc? I basically made the boxes myself using shapes as the lines, I guess this isn't best either as they are sort of classed as a lot of small images?! But I'm not sure how else to do it! Thanks in advance.
