VisualSite image issues..

Hi All,

Could somebody explain why the images on the VisualSite designer appear blocky / jaggy when previewed or viewed on a live site? The images look great within the VisualSite app but real bad when viewed and uploaded. I have to really play with the image (mostly size) to get it to look OK. Why doesn't it look the same as it does within the app?

Cheers, Rob.

Heh Rob,
I don't know why but I have had this issue too. I've also found that sepaerating images further apart helps.

Yeah, it's got to the point where I am going to give up with coffee cup unless there is a way to fix this.. I don't want to as the tool is great for simple web pages. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Bruce,

See www.hooners.org

The image displayed looks great within the app and bad when viewed live or through the internal preview of visualsite. I can mess around with the size to try and make it look less blocky but small or large, the image is degraded. This happens will all my images.

Basically, I create a site which looks great within the app and really degraded when viewed through a browser.

Rob.

I'mby far an image expert, and I can only offer my thoughts, I am but a coffeecup user, but the image you are using http://kellyinfo.com/web/hooners.jpg is a bit out of focus to me and I'm thinking this may be some of the problem for it's size.

Sure, it is too large but I shrink it and the blocky problem is still there. I'd prefer to see the image slightly blured than all jaggy as it appears on a live site. It's obviously something visualsite does because as you can see from your post, the image looks fine (all beit too large).

There must be something I am doing wrong - if not then visualsite is not usable with images because it formats them somehow causing degregation and a blocky / jaggy appearance. It doesn't matter if the image is the right size or not. At any rate, you open a picture box and it displays the image to the size of the box rather than the default size of the acutal image. You can right click the scale the image but it makes no odds whatsoever.

I have emailed their support last night but no response yet. I also thought there would be more replies from my post on the forum.

shot2bits: I have found that Visual Site Designer does not do a good job of re-sizing the photos.

Using another software, I scanned the photos to the size that I needed for the website. That could be why your edges are jagged. You can either use a scanner or the software that your digital camera came with.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
