Just curious if anyone has participated in the Win 10 beta testing and has tried VSD with it?

RE VSD and Windows 10, I just installed it on a Win10 test machine with no issues...able to install, open edit and save existing vsd website without issue.....This is fr build 10130 the latest official build.

It seems the only issues I have with win 10 and software up to know is VSD regretabley.
Everything working ok with it until upload. Half way through I get a black screen. Taskbar is viewable and I can click the tasbar icons and see the page (but only an icon view.)
Task manager doesn't work to kill it. I have to pull the plug on the pc.

I am having horrible problems with VSD on Windows 10. VSD installs with no obvious problems, and I transferred all of my website files over to the new computer, but my whole website is scrwed up now. I tried going back to a Windows Vista machine, install VSD on it and transfer my all of my website files there, and it's still not working right. I have no idea how to fix it. It's not uploading all the .html and image files into the correct directories of my webhosting company, and I don't know enough about the file system itself to fix it. Sometimes VSD uploads most of the files; other times it won't even publish the main html files and the entire site is gone. Almost every time I hit to publish button, something different shows up. I've spent two days now on this trying to correct it. When I go back to my Windows 10 machine and try to publish it from there again, it's even worse. The VSD program is definitely not functioning correctly on my Windows 10 computer.

I've tried rebuilding my site on the new RSD program, but I'm having problems trying to figure out to do it, and there are no CoffeeCup tutorials on it yet, just for Responsive Site Manager. I don't understand why CoffeeCup would release a new program, especially when you've relied on VSD in the past because you don't know everything about coding, without some kind of tutorial. I'll probably be spending yet another day on this tomorrow trying to figure out how to correct the problems. If I could at least get the site back up the way it was, it could hopefully give me time to rebuild it on RSD. I can't find any similar (affordable) WYSIWYG programs to VSD to use to rebuild the site either, and the only other program I've used in the past is Dreamweaver, and it's cost prohibitive now. I'm lost at this point--my hosting company has tried to help me, but they are also telling me that files are missing out of the corect directory and to "republish it."

I'm not exactly sure why you are having so many issues. I too have upgraded to Windows 10 and have had no issues at all with VSD. Try deleting your files from your server then republishing your website. In the past I have encountered this issue but usually just with one site not all.



The tutorials that are out for Responsive Layout Maker will work with RSD as the controls are almost identical. If you check out my youtube link there are some good tutorials on there too. If you are stuck and need some help transferring your VSD site to an RSD site just open a support ticket and tell them your needs. Coffeecup has a service going right now to help users such as yourself get their website converted. Once you have it converted they will supply you with the RSD file and you can go from there.

As your learning the controls of RSD building websites with it will become much easier. If you get stuck please come back to the forums and ask your question and we would be glad to help you.

I truly hope things work out for you with getting your VSD built websites back up. I know I would be stressed out if all of my sites stopped working too.

Thanks so much Steve! I really appreciate your help with my issue. Luckily, I only have one site up. One more question though: in looking at my site online at my hosting company, they have a pretty complex file system up for me, when I look at my file manager. I can't tell which files go where.

I have a root directory of: /home/(user name) Under that main folder, there are a number of other folders such as: "slide show files" with images in that folder, "etc" with files in that folder, logs, mail, perl5, public_ftp (which has an empty "incoming" folder), tmp, then all of my .html pages, access-logs, several .xml files, a .php file, a .js file, and www folder which contains a lot of the same files I just mentioned, including some .txt, .ini. .html and .php files.

I'm not sure which files to go in and delete, because I don't understand the file structure I'm looking at. I've talked to my hosting company several times, but they really don't know what to tell me either. Messing with the entire file structure of my site scares me. Any advice in this area? Thank you, again, I really do appreciate it.

What I would do is ask your hosting company which folder contains all your website files. It is important to know the exact folder. Normally this is public_html

Once you have that info, I would do this:

1. Save your website in VSD.
2. Where you saved your website, go into the _website folder. These are all your files for your website.
3. Using an FTP client, delete all the files on your hosting server inside of the folder where the website files belong.
4. Upload the website files from step 2.
