Zip file on website?
Is there a way to put a zip file on my website so visitors can download the file to their computer for viewing? I don't just want to put all the information on the site to "clutter" it up. the site is www.applingmanor.net & here's the file I want to include on the site.
Thanks
Thanks
Hi Barbara. On your pc go to the file you would like to have on your site. Now right click on it and select "Send to". Then click on Compressed (Zipped) Folder. Windows will make a zip of that file in that same folder the original is in. Now in VSD make your text box then link the text to that zip file by highlighting the text then clicking link at the top of VSD then browse to the zip file you made.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

You have to be careful that you don't point to an address for the zip file on your own computer though! Remember that the zip file must be uploaded to your server of course.
I think your going to confuse her.

Just like Eric said, the ZIP file doesn't have to be uploaded to a server at all! Everyone seems to forget now and then :-) that you can attach any document as a link to a line of text or an image, and then VSD uploads this file -whatever it might be, a zip file, a Word document, a Powerpoint presentation, a MP3- automatically to your webspace. Just make a line of text like this: "download this information as a zip file HERE", mark the word HERE, choose the link option, tick the lowest option (document) and the browse for the file you want to link, i.e. the file you want your customer to download. VSD will handle the upload. That's it!

thanks John...just goes to show that there is something new to learn every day! I knew I was heading for trouble answering a VSD query!

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
