Hi,
Is there a way to set the editor to complete things
e.g. to put the second { " ( automatically in so that I can type in between them.
I can't find a setting to do it. I have the 'use code completion' and 'automatically close code completetion tags' ticked but want the editor to add the brackets etc automatically.
Thanks
from
Richard

Hiya Richard,
When you are putting these codes in are you typing them or are you pasting them? If you type them it usually will complete them for you when you start typing the next one.

Thanks,
I'm typing the code
No it dosen't seem to complete anything.
Even typing <script> it won't then automatically add </script> for me to type in between.

Also I'm puzzled (but not unhappy) that this came through to the forum.
I thought I had sent it to software support.
How has it ended up on the forum and does that mean coffee cup haven't got it?

Might check your settings... Tools/Preferences... On the right under Miscellaneous
Check 'Use Code Completion'
Check 'Automatically close code completion tags'
Check 'Use Code Completion'
Check 'Automatically close code completion tags'

Where did you make the initial post? Did you go to 'Your Support Room' and open a 'support topic' ? That is how you get real techie help from CC. Otherwise you wind up here! With us! But hey, we're nice...mostly...

Can't get my editor to autocomplete any sort of tags.
Those boxes are ticked.
Nice to know you're mostly nice!

Well hmm, yah definitely check with support as they would have a few more options for you to try I'm sure.
Yep we're a good bunch of people here, you'll find lots of helpful people here for sure. Let us know what Support says so that if anyone else has this issue this thread can help them too

Will do, I'll let you know.
I've just sent it to them again, and the same acknowledgement screen came up as before where it says'
'Don’t lose your place in line! If you respond to your topic before our support specialists have a chance to respond, your topic will be moved to the back of the support queue.'
So I definitely sent it there but if it ends here again, something must be wrong their end.

If anyone's interested the reply was
'Hey Richard,
There is no options in the software to adjust he way code completion works. There would be no way to add that second " or any other character.'
and I wrote back
'Thanks, that's a shame, I thought all text editors would do that.
I also have WeBuilder 2010 by Blumentals (which I don't use) and that does it and so does the sublime text editor.
If you type anything like <script> it will automatically add </script> next to it and put the cursor in between them so you just get on and type really quickly.
Is there a wishlist where I can request this for future versions?'

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
