CC FTP 6.9 doesn't recognize webhost...

CC FTP 6.9 gives me an error message when I try to connect to my webhost's root directory: /home2/mikestei .
It gives a [500] error message saying: "No directory exists" . I have tried every combination I could think of, and nothing works. I created FTP's on my Webhost (Bluehost), and that doesn't work either. A support tech with Bluehost tried, and couldn't get it to connect, and he finally had me download another FTP program; "FileZilla." Don't use it!!! It's loaded with malware, and I spent the next morning trying to unlock my browser's. However, it did work. So why does that recognize the root directory of Bluehost, but CC's FTP doesn't?

Hi Michael,
I use Blue host and my directory setup for Direct ftp is
/public_html/mydomainname
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
