HTML Editor 2007

I have done a search on the forums and searched through the help files and cannot find what I am looking for. How do I remove the right margin thingy (the line on the right that runs down the page)in the code editor?

Thanks,
Noble

I have been using the editor for years, and have no idea how to remove it. I just ignore it. I know it has a purpose, but I don't know what that is. I think someone once gave it a name and explained it, but it still made no sense to me.

Just out of curiousity, has anybody come across this in Html Editor.
When adding a table it automatically inserts breaks and opening and closing body/html tags. example Below.

I think Mr Sellers brought this up awhile back but I saw no resolution to it. Yes I've done a uninstall, and reinstall 3 times, caches and all emptied, registry cleaned, even a new XP install same problem. I can deal with it, but just a headache sometimes. Thanks

It's the editors way of telling you to position elements using CSS and stop using tables for this purpose. Progress is a good thing.

Just kidding Cliff - don't get all slap happy with me, now. ;)

Actually, you can get rid of that line by mousing over it, grabbing it and then moving it all the way to the left. Unfortunately this is not permanent, and it comes back once you open the file again or even switch to another open file and back. It's set at 80 characters, since that's the width of text editors and terminals in UNIX.

Open the editor and go to the TOOLS > PREFERENCES section.

Then to HIGHLIGHTING > MODIFY. Look for the OPTIONS tab at the top of the new window and then go half way down for VISIBLE RIGHT MARGIN. Remove the tick and then click on OK on both windows to save.

I love css, am using it more and more for my professional work and if it wern't for progress, I'd be out of a job....Oops, was that "slap happy"?

Phillip, thank you for explaining how to get rid of the right margin. Any idea how it can be used or why we might need it?

Nah, I'd label it Canadian smugness.

It takes a special Canadian to be smug in -28 degree weather. ;)
