HI gals and guys,

ok, ok... I take back that Notepad thing since it seems to be an insult, was in no way meant that way, but I know people who love to use Notepad for coding and they do so 24/7

so, I feel a bit yelled at from some
thank you Zipper and Jo, I understand that and especially for your patience with me

all I want to do is to suggest an improvement for non-ambassador guys and gals like me, who tasted blood by using the HTML Editor 2009...

some brought home the point very LOUD what I MUST DO, thank you, I got it

CC can decide if they think there is a market - and if it is doable - or not

I am only a consumer

Thank you

thank you....

but honestly...

for what do I need CC editor then, if I do not have WYSIWYG...then I can use notepad the same way...

guys, this switchability is an EXTREMELY important functionality for me...

you (CC) should really get it working 100 %...

btw: it works mostly fine, only problem is the images...

Thank you

daniel

Hi Daniel

IMO Theres 2 types of coders - those that use a wizzy (WYSIWYG) and those that can code

... those that can code are supported by the HTML editor - you can use preview mode to see how your code looks and turn off the visual mode tab completely (many professional coders here use it that way and scream everytime coffeecup tries to turn that bit off ;) )

.. those that prefer to wizzy - are supported by the VSD program (in which you can also do things like add metatags or code snippets by the way)

... for those that have used a wizzy and would like to learn to code - the HTML editor has a VERY BASIC wizzy that will let you do a few clicks and switch to code mode to see what happened - anything beyond that becomes a bit messy and produces excess code

ALSO note that positioning of elements in a page is easier to do with code than with a wizzy if you know how - just learn some CSS with your HTML

Now to be happy and get over your problem of using a basic wizzy for advanced page building, you should either move to VSD or learn to code properly

Have fun

If you want to freely switch from code view to WYSIWYG view, I found that MS EW3 will not change the code.

But than you will not get the CoffeeCup free updates for life with M$. :D
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

So,

first: thank you Fe Pixie...!

following this forum's advice I switched off the visual editor, especially since I found you were right and it gave me problems on many pages I already had done (especially with positioning).

So I (re-)did my pages in HTML alone and must say that the tools are (still) very helpful in the code editor, so ie. implementing images is still very well supported (as good as in visual, actually...)

I also got to like and heavily use the tags shortcut...

so my resume: yes it works, very well so. And I can do it... but only because the hybrid function helped me to go my way, in December I was a total rookie still...

And: still for someone like me whose main focus is not on site building (I assume many of you ambassadors are more into hard core coding 'alone'?) but writing text thinking in <p></p> etc. is ok and sometimes fun, but seriously slows my text ideas...

So I still believe that a hybrid would be a way to go for CC, since I do not intend to use the suggested Expressweb, even if it has these features...and no, Visual Site Designer is not enough for me, my aim is to be able to code directly if I want to

if MS can do it, it is far from impossible, isn't it?
