HTML Static vs WP created website
To begin, I have been using CoffeeCup HTML Editor for designing, developing, and updating my website since 2012. In 2019, I then elected to update to the latest version of HTML Editor and used it to overhaul my existing website in modifying a ready made responsive website theme to best serve my needs in allowing me to increase overall website performance and standings in the SERPs. Needless to say, I have been very satisfied with the results to date as I have been able to achieve a perfect score in HubSpot Website Grader along with reasonably high scores in other reputable online website tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights, SEO Optimum, etc. My website also appears on the first page of the SERPs in Google for several plus keywords/keyword phrases commonly used in my profession without having to rely on paid ads. This noted, I am presently contemplating the creation of a new website for my grandson. While my present methodology in using CoffeeCup HTML Editor has obviously served me well to date, upon reading a recent article online entitled, 'Wordpress vs Static HTML: How Should You Build Your Site?', in addition to all the attention WP appears to have garnered on the web over the past several years, I am seriously considering whether I should make the transition to WP for creating a new website for my grandson. I can just imagine someone may be thinking (in reading what I've stated thus far) why would I even consider WP when my present methodology has served me so well in the past. While I get it, I was just wondering what others might have to say regarding an HTML static website vs a WP one. Also, while the article stated that 37.6% of the entire internet is using WP (remains to be verified), this in itself isn't enough to convince me to use WP. Thank you ahead of time.
I would stick with what you already know.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I would agree with Eric, but it also depends on what sort of site your Grandson needs? what's the objectives of the site for your Grandson & the visitors to the site?
Who is going to keep the site updated? and how? both now & in the future (the future being possibly only a year or so, with the way things happen and develop with the WWW)
Whereas WordPress is one of the largest & most popular sites for templates and it is fairly easy to keep updated, even for those that have limited experience in designing/building a website. It is also known that WordPress sites are one of the most easily hacked out there, and they are somewhat similar in their design/layouts,(after all the layouts/design, etc, are someone else ideas designs & layouts, etc) therefore there can be a lack of individuality/personality. Somewhat like "Another Brick In The Wall"

The only reason WP sites are so easy to hack is because of the use of really insecure usernames and passwords. Since the mid 2000's I have NEVER had a WP site hacked.
If WP is installed correctly (not using the auto install) and doing a couple of other things to the config file there should be no issues IF you use secure high strength usernames and passwords. Also, don't just load up a WP site with every plugin that is available. Just because there's a really cool plugin that's not always a good reason to use one.
I do agree with Eric and will say stick to what you know.

I was in this position a few years ago but started WP sites as well as Bootstrap.
I still use the HTML editor every day.
At present my WP site is: http://www.kwjassociates.co.uk/
Also did one from my grandson: https://reynoldsfishing.uk/
Both WP but I am using a premium theme called Thesis with Focus. This theme is designed for speed.
So it depends on what you want, easy option carry on as you do, if you want to gain new skills try WP.

Keith,
I'll put some information together for you. It may take a couple of days as I'm busy right now with a ton of graphics work.
