Suggestions for CoffeeCup HTML Editor...

Another request for a tag-matching feature.

In the sadly now-obsolete 'Homesite' editor you'd place your cursor on any tag (opening or closing), press Ctrl-M, and the cursor would jump to - and highlight - the matching tag. Alternatively, you'd right-click on any tag and select 'Match'. This was extremely helpful when hand-rolling code.

A settable option would also cause the function to highlight the block of code - something also often suggested.

Causing the function to highlight the block of code between the starting and ending tag would be an outstanding option. When you consider the nesting of DIV tags, could save a lot of debug time, great concept Paul....

Now that I'm working a lot with the HTML Editor - and very cool it is - a few other ideas come to mind.

1) I'd like to second the suggestion, above, for "an F4-like function to repeat previous tag entry". I'm pasting a lot of client-written copy on their website, and putting <p> tags around each bit of copy gets tiresome.

Perhaps that function key could optionally repeat the last function, whatever that happened to be.

2) Ditto for "search replace all should indicate if a change actually took place and how many changes were effected". ** DONE **

3) Would it be possible to close the 'Find' window by hitting the Escape key, the same way it closes the 'Replace' window? ** DONE **

Thought sure we'd see tabs being able to be rearranged by now, but... is this something we can possibly get at some time? Would be very useful.

Speaking of rearranging tabs, I mentioned some days ago, more or less in a subclause, that I would like to be able to have the split screen placed beside the working pane, not just one above the other. This is actually a very strong wish from my side, because as monitors seem to grow in width, and not in height, it's really not much you can see of your work with those panes placed above and below each other. But there is plenty of space to have them side by side. As an option? Please?

Hello

I use both the Windows and Mac versions of HTML Editor (Web Editor on the Mac). One of the features on the Mac version that I just love is the ability to see the HTML for the web page, plus the CSS file controlling the page. When clicking on HTML, the appropriate sections of CSS highlight as well. Just awesome! Dreamweaver offers this, but your solution is easier to use.

Question - Unless I am just not seeing it, do you expect to offer that same split HTML/CSS view in the Windows version?

Great job on both products.

Yeh, it's "flickering" the programme quite a lot, it has also crashed several times, I think caused by me trying to save it whilst its updating the preview window. Doesn't happen when the preview window is shut.
Never had the issue before as I've never used the split screen, just flicked between the two tags (writing and preview)

I have experienced the same problem, fairly consistently. Whenever I try to save while in split-view or with the external preview open, the program crashes without saving. This is with Builds 400 and 404. For the time being, I've been forced to go back to v.12 Build 375 in order to get any work done at all.
Frequently used the split-view in the past, but it never gave me any problems. In fact, I never had any problems of any kind with the Editor in the past.
Using Win7 32 bit.

Per, I just wrote this article and I would like you to be the Guinea Pig for me on this if you can. I am hoping this will correct your issues.

OK, I followed the steps in your article: Uninstalled v.12 --> cleanup process --> Installed v.12.5 B.404.

So far, so good!! :) (I.e. my first attempts to break it failed...)

I'll do some more testing and will let you know if I manage to break anything...

(PS: Sorry about my slow response, - I was having a long dinner! It's a bit past 10PM here now...)

Thanks for the update on the preview windows, now....

Would be awesome if the preview window and split screen preview could go another step further and remember it's view position of the preview itself, not just the window.

In other words, I've been working on a page that has an extremely long iFrame incorporated which is basically an extemely long bio of the person. I've had to make a lot of changes to this page, and I keep the preview split screen open most of the time while doing this. It's "I can't even say how extremely" annoying to have to constantly scroll back down not only to the iFrame, but then through the iFrame itself to get back to the position that I'm editing to view it.... for every.... single.... change.....

Can't it remember like the regular browsers do when they refresh the page and they go back to whatever part of the site page you were viewing?

Just a thought that I think most would agree with :)

Is it possible to "pleaseeees" get rid of the "My Websites" tooltip that pops up all over that entire panel on the left when you're on the websites tab?

http://coffeecuphelp.com/jo/screenshots/tooltip.png

Same goes for "Tags" on the Code tab
Same for "Code Snippets"

I know I asked for this before and I am sure I've seen a few others ask for it too. These are very intrusive and actually get in the way of clicks, and of seeing your file names, on a constant basis.
