I notice that this forum wont recognize character ? spelled ch.

Is it point of error in editor?

Fix the awkward tabbing and scrolling issues.

Tabbing:

A tab is an indent. If I click tab once, it should tab the same amount of time no matter what. Instead I hit tab once and it moves 10 spaces, then hit tab a few more times and it randomly moves one or two spaces; hit tab again and it will move 10 spaces. I don't understand why hitting tab moves different amounts each time. Also, after I've hit tab, if I hit delete it should go back to the amount that I tabbed, not just a few spaces. That's so awkward.

Scrolling:

I have a free scrolling mouse (no clicks when it scrolls, it just rolls). If I'm in a browser or another program it will scroll fine. When I stop the wheel it stops scrolling. If I spin the wheel on my mouse it will slowly begin scrolling to the bottom and if I stop the spinning it keeps scrolling because it has to catch up with my action. So then I have to sit and wait for it to finish scrolling.

If there are fixes or settings I can change for this please let me know. Otherwise, I'd like to see these resolved.

You can set your tabbing preferences under: Tools > Preferences > Customization > Modify Options
If you want a fixed number of spaces indented each time you press Tab, leave 'Tab Columns' blank and set the 'Tab Stop' to the number of spaces you want it to indent.

As for your 'delayed' scrolling, I don't know what's going on there. The scrolling works fine for me. I just tried it on a couple of files to make sure. I also tried it with and without split-screen preview (F12) and with external, toggled preview (F11) and it still scrolled smoothly. So I can't help you there...

Which doctype declaration and which character set are you using? At least ä, ü and ö should be fine with utf-8 and html5. Don't know about all the eastern European c, s and z with the various dots and strokes above them, though. But you should be able to find them in the character list of the Editor, but you'll have to handle the &xyz; and various numbers until America discovers that there is a world out there with languages that are different from English...

Also not not only Per's information but that the Tab works differently for HTML and CSS. If you are in HTML it should not (and usually doesn't for me) alter anything other than the basic tab setting and should be the same each time. But...

If you use it in the CSS pages the tab goes by whatever is in the previous line. Therefore if you indent your lines say 4 or 5 spaces for the attributes of a selector, it will indent them that same amount if that's what is on the line before it. Hence the very first tab for an attribute is usually around 10 spaces (not sure why so many myself either) because there is no indent usually on the line before it when it follows the main selector id's. Hopefully that makes sense.....

BUT...

I will second and third this suggestion so it works more usefully in CSS for sure! Should have it default to say 4 or 5 spaces for CSS on installation of the program

When Editor supported central European language nobody spoke about English and differences of it.
I running latest version of Coffecup editor, recommended on html5 and utf-8.
Results are very bad.

Following from my previous, damn the problem persists in visual site designer too. It seems to be about how certain characters are handled. I promised someone a website and second time characters(turkish ?,?,ç, probably ?) get in the way.
I can edit code in html editor for replacing the characters with &#xxx; while button making feature becomes useless on visual site designer, since it writes the text onto an image on publishing.
Recognizes ? as an icelandic character and prints it out differently too. Please go on and develop a solution for this issue.

I find it awkward that the font wizard doesn't display the fonts themselves, but the CSS item wizard does. Wassup with that?


Also, F11 displays the external preview but doesn't dismiss it. It's called a toggle,so I think it should.

Although I concur on the toggle for the toggle, I do think it should toggle both ways.... I have to say that it does do this to an extent. The issue is focus not the toggle. The toggle actually works as long as you have the focus on the right window. Put the focus on the main HTML Editor window and the toggle will toggle it off. If the focus is on the Preview window it will not (or is that visa versa maybe? I don't have it on right now so not checking lol). Anyways, it does work, but it's clunky that way as it's not a true toggle.

I too would like to see this be a true toggle that toggles on and off regardless of focus.

Enabling the HTML builder to open html files saved in unicode format. For some unknown reason default is UTF-8 and Unicode encoding can't be chosen anywhere in Cofeecup HTML builder. Thereby we can't use Cofeecup to create html e-mail docs, since these must be unicode encoded in order to show special Danish letters correctly in Outlook and other e-mjail applications.
