Using a blog template to design my...
Hi,
I have a couple of my own sites and want to create my first blog. I've never designed my sites from scratch but always used a css template and designed the rest from there.
In my initial exploration of trying to do the same thing with a blog template, I've learned that it's an entirely different beast.
It looks as though all the templates that I find are designed for blogger or wordpress if I'm seeing this correctly.
I would like to find a template that I can open in HTML Editor and go from there. But I'm guessing that it's not going to be that easy. Am I right or wrong. The templates I'm finding are just an .xml file.
With what I'm attempting to do, is there anyone that can give me some advice to how I should proceed?
Thanks,
John

Have you had a look at Coffee Cup's Stream (in S-Drive)?
It's a simple blog with easy to customize themes.
Or you could start from scratch: https://daveismyname.com/creating-a-blo … OoWsy6KKAo
If you're familiar with Foundation by Zurb, you could get going with their blank template (you need to add your own PHP, etc.). http://foundation.zurb.com/templates.html

Thanks for the great options. Either way it looks as though I'm not getting through the gate without learning and knowing PHP. Looks like quite a learning curve.
I looked at S-Drive and it seems like a possibility but I didn't see much info on it. Can you set it up on your won url? Does it look and function like a real blog? Does it allow for commenting?
I wish I could see more of it before I went and signed up for it.

As a registered user John you already have access to S-Drive and a FREE account. It is limited but you could set up a simple site with a Stream blog and see how it looks and works. Won't cost you anything. Just click on 'Sevices' at the top of the page to get started with S-Drive.
Come on back if you need more information.

Another option (says it includes the PHP and JS files):
http://themeforest.net/item/logger-flat … te/9013062
But if you really want to do it yourself instead of using an existing blogging platform, better get to learning PHP.
If you give SDrive Stream a try, you'll see how to embed it in your own webpage. Have you had a look at the Stream forum? http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/s-drive-stream/
Many of us have used it on our and client sites (I have it on mine).
