Wasting valuable time

Hi,
for a while now, whenever I use HTML Editor 2007, the program always stops responding whenever I change something, eg. when I go from code to preview mode, or when I save a file, or when I upload a file.....

Every time I do something different I have a long wait (about 45 seconds or even more) before I can carry on working.

I was advised to uninstall and then re-install the program, I did this, and for a few minutes the problem was gone, only to come back in all its glory.

Needless to say I waste a lot of time while editing a web page.

Has anyone had a similar experience, or even better, does anyone know a solution for this?

Thanks in advance.
Frankie.

First I hear of it....

Can you give us some idea of what you have for a computer?
CPU
Hard drive space
Ever run defrag?
ram
video card
How old is the computer?

Do you have any other programs that behave similarly?

I am thinking it is something with the computer, somehow that is not happy with running CoffeeCup HTML editor. I have never heard of the editor behaving that way. It could be as simple as your hard drive needing to be defragged before you instal the software, but who knows?

Hi,
the PC is only 1 year old, has a 250 Gb HDD which is regularly defragmented, P4 Dual Core 2.8 Ghz processor, ATI Radeon 1500X video card, 1 Gb RAM.
It happily runs more complex programs than Coffeecup.
It is reaaly getting beyond a joke when I try to edit some web pages.

By the way, nice doggie you have there.
Thanks,
Frankie.

Sounds like your pc should handle just about anything you throw at it!

Did you re-boot after uninstall, and then again after install?
Has this issue been resolved?

The doggy (Tiny) learned to make faces because the kids did it so much when getting a picture taken.

My thought exactly.

I did indeed.

I'm afraid not, I did all the rebooting, did extra virus and spyware scans, did a defrag anyway, all to no avail.
It is really getting frustrating now.

I know what you mean, my two dogs also have their own 'particularities'.:P

Thanks for your replies, and if you think of something else that might help, please let me know.

Sounds more software related than hardware. XP or Vista? Is the account an administrator (or Run as Administrator in Vista)? May not matter, but I know w/o Run As for VSD, mine crashes at first load, but I haven't shared the problem with HTML Editor. If in Vista, is UAC enabled or disabled, and if DEP (Data Execution Protection) is enabled, is HTML Editor on the list of safe programs (should be okay if it's set to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"). I can clarify where to find those UAC/DEP settings if needed.

Does the crashing happen with any html file or certain files? I ask because maybe it's certain code/content that causes the issue. Or other software that conflicts in some way. Enough questions for now? :

XP SP2 (Would not touch Vista with a barge pole).

Yes, Administrator.

I have instructed ZoneAlarm to let the program through.

Just any old HTML file.

New Poster Here. I am having a similar problem. After happily using the "free" software for a couple years, I wanted to add a couple new images and didn't know how to do it. So, I spent the money to upgrade to the full version so I could use the visual editor.

Every time I try to save the file in the visual mode it freezes and has to be restarted.

Is it possible it's because of the size, as I did a "mini test file" and it was fine. But when I tried to incorporate it into the main file it started freezing.

The HTML part works fine as usual. (Windows XP, lots of free space) No other problem has this issue. :/

Hi, welcome to the forums.
Well, mine does not have to be restarted, it comes back to life after a while, but it does waste a lot of time while I'm having to sit there waiting.
Tried to make short, very simple HTML page, it did exactly the same.
Looks like my only solution will have to be to ditch Coffeecup altogether.
Shame, but.............
