New user, so please go gently on me here…
My challenge: Images are not resizing properly when email is displayed in Outlook.
Specifically, I have a series of images that I am linking to and displaying in my email. They are each JPGs 272w x 222h pixels in size.
I want to display them 128x104 in the email. (They are not mine, I'm linking to a library that I don't have rights to change.)
So I set max-width on them to 128. They resize perfectly in the Email Designer tool. They look great when I display the email’s HTML in a browser. They come through perfectly in Thunderbird.
They look like crap in Outlook.
If I paste the exported HTML into my Outlook client and mail it to myself, Outlook gets the width correct at the requested 128px. But it does not constrain the height, so that still comes through at the file’s native 222 high. So then the whole email is thrown of whack.
If I test mail it to myself in our mailing tool, Vertical Response, neither constraint applies in Outlook and they come through as the native size of 272x222.
Any idea how to get Outlook to behave like all the others?
I’m sure I’m ignorantly missing something obvious.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Ken
P.S. I’m sorry if you guys have answered this 100 times already. I couldn’t find any similar answers using Search.

Hi Ken,
Can you share your RED project file so we can test for ourselves?

Trying, but every time I attach my file, (June2020v3.red), this window says Your attachment must be one of: .TXT, .SNP, .ZIP, .RSD, .RLM, .RLMP, .RED, .GIF, .JPG, or .PNG format..
Is there a size limitation to what I can attach, or some other reason it might not like my .RED file?

Try zipping it. If it is over 2MB, pop it in your dropbox or similar.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Here's what I see in outlook. They look fine to me
It didn't look so great in the built in Windows Inbox.
It had a few chunks missing along the right hand side at each HR. I'm looking into that now in RED.

Interesting. Thanks so much for your time and for looking.
Yours is as expected. What I'm seeing is attached. The difference seems to be something that happens when Vertical Response does whatever it does as part of sending, though I don't know how to see what that is. Any suggestions?

I see the issue.
Move your slider to the left until your almost to the default red break triangle.
You'll see your styling bust out. Maybe move the default break point to the right and see if it corrects the problem.

OK, sorry for my silence. Getting software releases out the door took priority. But back to this conundrum now. Still can’t seem to get around this challenge.
I rebuilt the entire email from scratch, hoping that I might magically fix whatever error I created through my previous ignorance.
No such luck. New RED file exhibits the same problem, though perhaps with a little cleaner code.
» Works perfectly in Gmail, yahoo, Thunderbird, etc.
» Looks like the graphic size constraint seems to fail when displayed in Outlook, thus breaking the column structure (3 spans/8 spans). <I’m sure this must be where I’m doing something wrong…>
Also, in case it helps debug my issue, when I forward that bad email, Outlook breaks the email into its respective rows (??). Picture attached.
Since I rebuilt to the best of my very limited rookie ability, I am at a loss, and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your wisdom on this.
