Unclear
Hello - I bought RED when it was announced but struggled with the concept of it, to be honest, owing to the lack of documentation.
I tried again this evening. Am I right in thinking it creates an .html page that you send as an attachment with a program such as Outlook?

With Responsive Email Designer, you can create HTML emails that your users can access on any device, whether it be smartphones, tablets or any modern desktop email client!
However when importing HTML emails for sending with a program like outlook, it tends to strip out many of the styles, so some minor tweaking may be required (specifically for images). For that reason, we recommend using a sending service like MailChimp or Mandrill.
Some of the other great features of Responsive Email Designer include:
If you have not done so yet, we have a bunch of articles now on RED to help you get more familiar with how the software works. Our Quick Start Guide is very helpful when getting started with Responsive Email Designer.

So, is the idea I send an email with Outlook - with the initial message saying something like:
'Hi - have a look at my email by opening the html attachment.'

If you mean by an attachment like you would with a word document or other binary files, I guess that would work. I would not recommend it though.
If you really want to take full use of all the features in RED, you should use a service like MailChimp or Mandrill and let them send the email for you or send the messages within RED using your Mailer Account. This way your customers get the email without having to download something and then manually opening that file.

Hello
When you say:
'If you mean by an attachment like you would with a word document or other binary files, I guess that would work. I would not recommend it though.'
Yes, this is what I assumed would be the only way to do it with Outlook. Is there a different method of integrating a RED responsive email into an Outlook email message? i.e. without using the resulting /html file as an attachment?

Sending directly through Outlook will not work that well because Outlook strips out most of the styles causing all the images to become distorted. Your email will also no longer be responsive. You need to use an ESP or use RED for email delivery if you want your email to look its best.
