Hey guys, I have a question for you all.
I've heard the term "Hero Unit" thrown around a lot when coming to web design, but what exactly can you use a "Hero Unit" for ? I researched the term on google and came up with a lot of different answers, can I use this for practically anything text related ( paragraphs , quotes )? Perhaps I can adjust to this new term if I knew exactly what it's used for?

Pardon I've coded for about 12 years in just about every web language and I've never ever come across Hero unit. The first time was on the RLM, I'll have to play around with that one, but it's a good question from Unc

Did you read the reference link I posted and look at the screenshot? Its pretty self explanatory there.

Thanks Scott.

Yeah I was just pulling your leg Seriously though I'd never heard of it before RLM I also checked it out on W3schools and couldn't find it, just to see if I was being behind the game

I've been coding - in a very amateurish and sporadic way admittedly - for even longer (say 20 years), and I too had never heard the expression "Hero Unit". But then, I've never used all these new-fangled frameworks like Bootstrap until I looked at RLM. And yes I did look at the reference link with ever increasing incomprehension. Perhaps I should get back to doing what I do best - cooking food.
Never tried using a Jumbotron. What does it do?

It is a kind of a strong statement / teaser wich expresses the reason for being. It makes you feel you came to the right place.
In the time Eric Meyer taught us to abandon tables he spoke of masthead or header. Design elements that attract attention. I noticed the shift to "hero" about a year ago when I was searching for inspiration.
The perfection isn't reached in one pass.
Hi,
Thanks very much. This is excellent, albeit without getting very far forward up the knowledge mountain needed to master RLM, I've learned two new things in a day.

A really good example of what this gets used for widely is for newspaper and magazine articles. Ever read an article where a key phrase is singled out in the middle of the article, with much larger print and many times different font and color? Many times it's for restating a quote from a conversation or paragraph to make it stand out and catch your attention.
