I just responded to your support ticket as well. It was not clear if you were first using the Inventory button before publishing or not. What the inventory button does is takes all of your stock counts and updates the software interface so they are in sync.

Since I cannot see your system setup, what would help is to see screen shots of all the dialogs and the alert you see. If you can record a video that would really help. It just sounds to be like you have a setting not properly configured. When you get a chance, please do update that info with your support ticket so we can see what is causing the problem.
