I first posted this in SCC but got no answer, so now I have SCC Pro I have asked hear as the answer could be different.
How is the best way to have a Landing or return page from PayPal after a sale from multiple shops in different domains, given that I only want one PayPal account?
I also want to be able to use inventory management.
Any advice or examples would be most welcome.

Hi. With inventory control activated, a return url is passed to PayPal by the shop itself, so for those with multiple shops, it knows which shop to decrease the stock in.
You can set up a generic return page in PayPal for multiple domains, but you cannot activate inventory control if you do that, as the return url Cart Creator generates overwrites whatever is stored on PayPal. This is the protocol used by all shopping cart softwares that have inventory control.

Thanks Will, so do I just leave the return URL in PayPal Blank ?
Also does the following paypal option cause any problems with inventory control ?

About PayPal Account Optional
Turn on PayPal Account Optional and we won't require non PayPal account holders to create an account to complete a purchase from you.
They will pay for their goods with a debit or credit card, fill in a few small details about themselves and be able to sign up to PayPal afterwards.
Customers who already have a PayPal account will checkout in the traditional manner. The PayPal Account Optional Feature is available for merchants using Express Checkout and for ‘Buy Now’, ‘Donations’ and ‘Shopping Cart’ buttons within Website Payments Standard.
Note: If you have chosen to turn on PayPal Account Optional for new users and enabled a function called ‘Auto Return,’ the new users will not return to your website automatically, but will be able to choose to return.

OK. You need to ensure the PayPal account optional is ON, so users don't get forced to open an account. Should be set to that by default, but just check.
With the return url in PayPal you need to put something in there. Can either be a domain name you own, or whatever you want. It doesn't matter what you put, as it will get over written by the one that Cart Creator sends out to PayPal anyway.

Does the following cause any problems?

Whatever you put in there will get over written. If you want to put one of your own primary domains in there, that will also work fine and also get overwritten.
The auto return thing I have never seen before, but PayPal does vary slightly from country to country, so you'd have to make a test purchase and see what happens with auto return OFF.

I am pretty sure the auto return has to be turned on for you to be able to use the other part of the PayPal setup that goes with it. The part that gives you the token key to enter into the Cart Creator setup. How that works to get bypassed I am not sure, not sure if it does even, I just know it says to me that I must use an address in the autoreturn in order to use the token. Very confusing part for me too.
It probably is lol, soon as I get it installed I'll see what it says about it

I thought that wasn't a UK name till I realised it was golden one spelt backwards.
Right with PayPal when you have paid with PayPal Standard, you can either get taken to a 'success' page if the site has one, or the user can click the link on the PayPal site to return to the store they have just shopped on. Many carts override that setting too, as my 'other' cart software returns them to a success page and allows them to buy without registering an account. It also auto poplulates the PayPal data boxes to allow people without accounts to buy.
Actually with UK based merchants at least, I believe PayPal has let people buy without an account for quite a long time now.
All I can suggest is you put a 10p test item on there and get a friend to purchase and see what occurs. You can always refund the 10p and get your transaction fee back.
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
