Hmm I dunno about you Will, but I was asked very strongly not to say anything unless it was already leaked out by the CC Team. I consider that close enough to a non-disclosure agreement as I need.
I for one will wait on the Pro version. After trying about 6 others out there, this one is wayyyyyyy easier to use for non technical people like me

I think Scott must have made just a special rule for you Jo Ann
The biggest selling point for pro won't be on its enhanced feature set, as there already some very powerful solutions out there, but on its ease of use. Realistically users will get a shop up within less than an hour with the pro version, whereas some of the more complex solutions that process could take upwards of a week, as well as assuming the user is fluent in php, html, css and javascript.

I use a NDA's(full of acronyms today) sometimes, but never had to enforce one because if you have someone that is close to your work(product, whatever), an element of trust has to exist to start with.
This guy kinda' blew it. Old news, but still funny.

I think the beta tester guys(and gals) aren't breaking any NDA, but some great testimonial advertising. Just sayin'

Reminds me of the story about an American airline that had to put instructions on a packet of 'in flight' nuts to cover their backsides for legal perspectives. On the reverse it said "Open packet - eat nuts". Not that I'm drawing any anology between that and needing the documentation for the pro version of course.
The release of the pro version is massively overdue now, so it's hardly surprising so many people are starting to lose interest. It's a bit like the signs in some British pubs that say "free beer tomorrow". I'd rather the pro get released now and 'tweaked' when it has been tested by a much larger user group.

Actually most of us beta testers haven't had any strict non-disclosure agreements made upon us by Coffeecup. The reason we don't make any specific comments on the features within the pro version is purely because it would be inappropriate for us to comment ahead of any official announcement from the Coffeecup team, that is all.

That's exactly what I was suggesting: CC does things differently from most other vendors. Not that being different is a bad thing -- it's entirely within their purview.
All this "I'm desperate for pro" brings a smile to my face when I think of all the powerful open source solutions out there, that people can use in the meantime.
Hmmmm... this reminds me of a wife saying to the husband: "So you think that girl over there is pretty? Well, go ahead -- take her out on a date and then come back and tell me what you think of her..."
Believe me, if I go to the trouble to build a cart with Zen Cart or another powerful, flexible tool with a steep learning curve, it's not going to be 'in the meantime'. It's gonna be around for a while.

That's because they are all crazy! Just in different ways.

I am fortunate that the extended delay in releasing the pro version gave me the cause to find an open source alternative to the burdensome Zen Cart. Sadly some of us have working businesses that can't function on extended delays, or vague delivery schedules.
It's a real pity as the pro version has great potential, but the lack of clear communication about what is happening with the program is destroying the whole credibility of the program itself now.
Wow Will that's pretty negative even for you. I disagree 100%+ about any lack of communication. It's been communicated completely, people just are too impatient to wait that's all. It was communicated that the program was completed and they were working on the documentation and when that's done and they are ready it will be released just like any other program.
What do you want them to do? Answer the same answer or reword the obvious every time someone posts asking for the release date? How redundant would that be? They've answered it, and people choose not to listen and post about it anyways. It's not their fault if the people don't bother to go back and read a thread simply because it's pages long and so they don't even "know" that the question has already been answered. It's impatience and that happens.
There's no lack of credibility here, and it's been said many times that for the most part the hype was just started prematurely is all. Unforseen problems that were discovered and all that stuff, it's been done before many times by many companies, so why when CC does it, does it make their software non credible?
The program is very credible people, it's just late, nothing more. Yes I understand that everyone wants it, even more so if you're already using the Basic version because those of us that are, are aware of what it's lacking and excited and impatient to get it. But that doesn't ruin it's credibility just because it's late. That has absolutely nothing to do with the software at all. The software will work fine and be good regardless of when it's released.
But no matter what the situation, be it timing, impatience etc., there's no need to be disrespectful about it all. If you have something that strongly to say you should email them about it. Posting what you did here Will is a very negative comment on CC, and for what purpose?

For the sole purpose of expressing his personal opinion in this public forum. Agree, disagree, or move on down the line...but don't goosestep all over it.

And some of us have built half-baked carts for others with the basic version and are incapable of implementing the enhancement promised by SCC Pro. Fortunately for me, I do a lot of gratis work on machines and websites for friends, I don't try to augment my retirement with it. Were I charging, I'd have some pretty impatient customers wondering what happened to the software that was originally estimated to hit the streets a month or more ago.

I don't think it's to that point yet, and hope it doesn't reach it. The last "official" pronouncement -- the inaugural post in this thread -- was certainly clear enough. But leaving the tread open to the "When? When? When?" crowd has led to a lot of grousing, some of it good-natured, some of it not.
This may cost some sales, but I think that there's always going to be a market for SCC Pro, because it's going to be much easier to use than the current 'big boys' in the field. Let's face it, one of CC's great strength is ease-of-use, and that appeals to those who lack the resources or patience to tackle daunting, 'high-end' software.
At the risk of repeating myself, I'd much prefer that only Scott or somebody else from CC had posting privileges in this thread.
