CCSC with Orbital Gateway?

Hello and Help!:o
I've created a few CC sites (with VSD) and just got the Shopping Cart and SC Designer. I'm doing a site for an artist who will have one item to sell online (a gallery handles her paintings, prints, etc.), This item will eventually come in 3 colors and might have some holiday versions in the future (sorry, I can't say what it is just yet). The artist's son insists on a separate shopping cart (seems like over-kill, but it gave me an excuse to buy it: ;)).

So now this "web-meddler" just went and got an Orbital Gateway (Chase Paymentech) account. Is anyone familiar with this? This really seems unnecessary, just to sell one item (or even 3 versions). Is it going to be possible to make this work with CCSC? Here's a link to the site:

....Or should I tell him he needs to get a really expensive cart to handle this?:D:D:D

If i understand your question correctly, all you need to do is set up a free PayPal account and they will process all of the CC orders. they take a very small percentage of every sale, but its worth it. For me it is the standard for payment solutions on the web. :D

That's what I had in mind... seemed simple enough. But the CC Cart isn't on the list of carts that partner with Orbital. They recommend Paypal Payflow Gateway ($$$) to connect non-partner carts to the Orbital account. So - a gateway to connect to the gateway!
Looks like I'll also need to get an SSL certificate.

I was hoping someone had experience with this - don't want to get the CCCart up, then find out there's either no easy and/or inexpensive way to connect to the Chase Orbital Gateway.

:)

Paintbrush,

You don't even need the Chase Orbital Gateway; you can set up a PayPal Website Payments Standard account. Customers can either pay with their PayPal account or use a credit card without having a PayPal account. Shopping Cart Creator currently only works with three payment processors: PayPal, Google Checkout, and Authorize.net.

With regard to the SSL certificate, this isn't needed since SCC doesn't collect any information about the transaction. Everything is handled by the payment processor.

I don't have a choice in this:( Otherwise I'd be going with the CC Shopping Cart and PayPal.
Thanks for the replies!:)

That sounds like a plan.. :)

Sometimes you have to look at ecommerce from the site customers point of view. PayPal and Google are internationally known payment providers and folks will probably be familiar with doing business with them already. Unless customers feel secure with who they are giving financial details to, that can rapidly lead to lost sales. Using a little known payment provider is never a good idea for any site.

Most of the shopping carts recommended to work with Orbital have monthly payment plans - some as low as $59.95 per month:lol: ... and there's still the card processing fees.

So one month would cost more than buying CCSC outright !!! Looking forward to presenting this bit of info! Not to mention, instead of actually getting the cart up and running - I've spent hours comparing prices/features for these other carts and reading through all the Orbital materials (could have learned a new language by now!).

Rant over!:D

I think I'd rather spend $59.95 a month on myself.... lol.

With shopping cart creator you can create an unlimited number of shops on as many domains as you want. You can even have multiple sites on the same site along the line of yourdomain/retail......... yourdomain/trade etc.

With PayPal, or Google there are no fixed monthly fees to pay, just a very low transaction charge and a small percentage of the sale fee. If your site(s) do well, that percentage reduces based on sales volume.

Sometimes the best deals are right in front of you.... :)
