Copying Optional Fields?

hiya,

is there a way to copy Optional Fields from one product to another by any chance? Most of the time I just copy a product completely, but I have about 50 products that I need to add some optional fields to after the fact, not sure if this can be done.

Never mind I found the sharing option checkbox :P But...

Is there a way to lengthen the number of chars we can put in the Options Lists? It's so short I can barely fit what I need in it and sometimes can't at all :/

Another question on the Options Field sharing.... if you have created an Options Field on an Item, and you have that sharing to the rest of the Category (would really love to see a global sharing if possible too), if the item that is sharing it's Options Fields is removed, deleted, moved to another category, etc. does that then remove the sharing option from the category all together that it was/is in? If I uncheck that item from being published, is that item still sharing the options fields yet?

If unpublished items still share their optional field settings, then In the long run, I could I suppose just create some Blank Place holders that just have things to share within each category and just copy that placeholder to each category and it will then share it's optional fields with the new category right? So I don't have to set this up manually for each category then. Does that make sense?

I think there was a reason why we had a limit as PayPal only allowed so many characters to be passed through that variable. Need to check into that again.

I don't think we are going to have a global one just yet. Right now we have limited it to a category.

When you share fields between products but delete the original, the optional fields will be unaffected.

Thanks Scott, then my idea to make placeholders will do the trick :) If you find out on the field lengths if it's expandable or if it's a Paypal problem let me know, cuz it's sooo short I've had to get extremely creative in wording lol

Wolverana you and i are hitting same problems & for the same reasons i think

One way round is to copy and paste one product into every categorie with which you have already set up the optional fields in

Then unpublish it but the optional fieds are then still on all the published products

Had to do this for ring sizing, engraving etc.

I have confirmed that there is a limit to the amount of characters that can be passed through to them which is why we only allow so many in the software.

Sorry....
