Is there a way for the customer to submit their credit card information and we can process the card in house with our current credit card service provider?

I do not think this is possible internally to the program. But, I think the pro version when it comes out might have changed that (not sure though). You could always include a CC Form Builder Form on the checkout page and ask for CC information and have the form sent to you. However, this is not secure and oftentimes not suggested. This is why the providers are used (so that there is a secure payment process). :D

Unfortunately Albert, there is no way for the customer to submit their credit card information directly in Cart Creator and this will not be a feature on the pro version, either upon its release, or in the near future. There are many implications with taking direct online payments with credit cards, one of which is advanced security within the card processing software and the way that the information is stored and transmitted.

If you are a genuine retail store you can create a form asking for information which can then manually be run through your machine. Some say that this is not safe but I have done it on 3 or 4 websites and I believe my clients still to this day use the same method without problems but I suppose the information is as safe as the receiving party ensures it is. One of my other more favorite ideas that I implemented a while back was to use the livechat feature to do this live. The user seems to get a much higher sense of security doing it this way for some reason as well as being able to make the payment immediately during business hours. This can also be combines with the livecam feature for certain kinds of websites. If you do not have a merchant account or expensive gateway then I suggest that you do exactly what I did and use your imagination, I tries and I get a lot more payments using these methods than using the gateway which costs me a fortune. People these days just seem to prefer using paypal anyway for some reason, I suppose it is because everyone is such a big Ebay freak.

Always use secure socket layering when collecting personal financial information.

Never use forms to email you this information.

I think the primary reason that people prefer to use payment services like PayPal and Google checkout, is to keep their credit card details safe. There are thousands of bogus web sites on the net whose sole purpose is just lift people's credit card details, with no intention of ever supplying any goods. Even SSL with its little padlock symbol is no security against fake sites operating, as they just cost a few extra dollars from most web hosts and don't need any background checks at all. At least with PayPal and other processors, the merchant never gets access to your credit card details.
