The shopping cart software is a nifty little program. I especially appreciate it's simplicity. Limitations, however, come along with that simplicity. Here's my wish list of things I'd like to see in future versions or the professional version (in no particular order).
CONTINUE SHOPPING LINK
I would like to see an option to turn on or off a "Continue Shopping" button or link. (I know this was considered during development; I’m adding my vote in favor of this option.)
POWERED BY
I would like to have the option to remove "Shopping Cart Software by CoffeeCup Software" link in the footer. (I realize this has been debated in another place; I’m adding my vote in favor of this option.)
PRODUCT TITLE LINK
On the shopping cart page, I would like to see each product's title be a link back to the product detail page.
CUSTOMIZED FOOTER
Include the ability to add text in the footer region for a copyright line, contact address and phone number, and/or links to my other web sites.
HTML IN SHOP HOME TEXT AREA
Include the ability to use HTML in the header region (the Shop Home Text Area).
CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS
Include the ability to add text describing the various product categories or groups.
STORE-WIDE DISCOUNTS
Include the ability to apply discounts store-wide. The ability to apply discount pricing per item is a nice feature but if you have hundreds of products and want to have a "One Day Only Sale," well, you get the idea...
WEIGHT-BASED SHIPPING
Calculating shipping charges based on the weight of the entire order. (You can specify the weight for each product but I don't see where this is used anywhere in the program other than for display. Am I missing something?)
HTML EDITOR FOR PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
I would like a more powerful way of inputting product descriptions; like an integrated CoffeeCup HTML editor (or FCKeditor). It's a little cumbersome entering "[[[<li>Text</li>]]]" and the like.
CUSTOM PAGES
Include the ability to add custom pages such as a Contact Us, About Us, Return Policy, Shipping Charges, etc.
VIRTUAL PRODUCT SUPPORT
Yes, virtual products can be added in the same manner as tangible products but customers want immediate delivery of virtual products. Imagine if CoffeeCup used their own shopping cart software; customers ordering their products would have to wait for a representative to respond. I realize this may be beyond the current program's capabilities but this is my wish list, after all!
PRODUCT SEARCH
Include a search box for stores that have hundreds of products. (Incorporate the Fluid Dynamics Search Engine script, perhaps? Other options not requiring a database connection?)
PRODUCT IMAGES
Support for transparent image backgrounds (PNG/GIF) or the ability to specify custom thumbnail, medium, and large product images. (Useful for background transparency rather than a white background when using dark themes.)
Despite the software's limitations, the CoffeeCup team is to be commended for creating a simple, easy-to-use (and inexpensive) shopping cart program.

I would like to be able to edit all of the product descriptions globally to change the font size from say 10 pt to 14 pt for all products; change all product description to Bold.
You have to do this all one at a time which is a pain.

You should be able to easily do that by changing the default.css file in the CSS folder. I've altered my shop by changing the stylesheet. When I make changes in the shopping cart program, I use the Export Shop for Upload feature (instead of uploading the site through the program) and upload all but the CSS folder to my server.
Some other wishes.
Agree with all that have been stated above.
Adding a discount function so that if you buy more of a product you can apply discounts to that product. Many shops offer buy 4 get one free. No option on CCSC.
Better handling of the shipping options. Many of us ship further than just down the street. Would be nice to offer overseas shipping options.

I am always nervouse of expressing opinions but
For someone like me, not technical, but a craftsman, this is simplicity itself, and i have tried quite a few others, with all the goodies you mention above.
I rather hope that CC will keep this simple for the likes of me, but produce a more complex version for others.
And though it is only since december 29th that i started trying CC cart creator
i have achieved more than when i spent three months working with Magento before xmas (and it loaded pages so slowly they kept crashing)
My CC site is now considerably bigger and loading pages in less than 1/4 of the time
I mention this because others looking through this thread may not have tried the more complex carts, and for a begginner like me, i found this an absolute pleasure to work with by comparison
I am looking forward to a few minor additions, possibly a text field for customer instructions, but for my simple needs this is great, and i am pleased to have found this after 4 years of other carts.

I have a copy of the Shopping Cart program which is not running yet due to windows webhosting problems and I am hoping this issue will be resolved soon. It seems I have missed the chance to be involved in the beta testing which may address this issue.
However meanwhile to add to the 'wish list' area can I please add this:
Option to remove the 'add to cart' button from the initial page of thumbnails to force the customer to go to the individual item page in order to select size and number required of the item before adding to cart.
I also feel that the 'shipping options' area is distinctly limited and need ssome work.
Hoping for some help here!

I would also like to see the following features added.
Spell checker for the descriptions, I am tired of writing everything in Microsoft Word and then pasting into the description area.
Be able to add a video to show a product in use or show its features more clearly.
Add a link to a page with further information.
Sub categories is also on my wish list.

Some say it can't be done, while others are doing it.
You can add videos now to the long description as it accepts HTML Code. I have seen quite a few people use our Video Player application and embed the code on that page.

Scott, Can you give me some direction on the placement of a video.
Maybe I just treat it as another web page and drop the code onto the page?
I have the video player software under my other account. Is there some way I can marry both my accounts together.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
