At the moment the only way for customers to submit personalised information is via a html text field placed within the item description, with its own separate submit button. There is currently no way of linking that with the add to cart button at this moment in time. Whilst the custom text feature may become available at some stage, the current development focus has been on adding mainstream features to the pro version, based on extensive prior feedback received from existing cart creator users within the forums.

While of course I appreciate that input from users is important, I do think that some research should have been done how how to make a truly professional product, which includes selling more than just static objects. I would suggest that you all look at the process for creating a paypal add-to-cart button, the product options, they are just form fields. You can create one drop down with dollar amounts, and other plain drop downs, and a number of text field inputs. Your own form builder does almost the same thing (no upcharges though of course). Trying to tie user-added code in the details page is the wrong way to go about it, if that's what you are saying. The text input needs to be one of the product options, just add a text field input option in addition to the drop down option types in the Optional Fields area..

The input from users is extremely important to the Coffeecup development team, as it allows them to develop the product based on feedback from real world users with existing online businesses, rather than building a product on assumption.

There are a wide diversity of products being sold via Cart Creator and the pro version is being developed for the serious business user, that has need for more advanced feature sets. Having a wider range of payment options was one of the many requests for the pro version, so it's important that all new features are compatible with all of the payment providers that the pro version will utilise, not just PayPal.

The customer input fields are something that the development team are aware of from prior feedback. Once the pro version has been released, the need for additional features is something that can be reviewed, but the current focus has to be on getting the product out to customers. Folks have waited a long time for the pro version.

I understand the point you are making but the reference to paypal buttons had nothing to do with paypal payment but rather the construction of options input. If customer personalization input can be added to a future version it is something that would apply to a huge field of businesses. I maintain company webstores for a few corporations and business to business promotions plus logo apparel are a large segment of online sales. I am not talking about retail apparel but for instance employees ordering work garments etc. I also understand the need for other payment options and that is something I would also be looking for (purchase order, pre-auth with offline ccard, budget, etc) as well as product database upload etc. I can also tell you that the shopping carts I have worked with are not that great (even though one is the ad specialties industry standard) and it would be nice to have a middle ground between expensive hosted programs and open source carts. Don't assume a poster does not have "serious business" webstore experience and I'm not sure what you meant by building a program on assumptions. As an example one company store I maintain carries a database of 700 employees, each with running totals of accumulated "points" (dollars) earned through safety awards that they can put towards purchasing logo apparel and hardlines. Another store has locations in several countries and one of the items they order are uniforms which are personalized and the employee needs to type in their name. The types of businesses I am interested in using your pro cart are for instance employees ordering garments with preset spending limit over which they would have to use a ccard, team sports where personalization is of course a necessity, and other projects. But anyway I am getting a little long-winded here but I wanted to make my point. I am looking forward to seeing what your pro cart program will be offering.

Hi , Sorry Artlife and Will UK I would like to ask a something on a different topic.
I have a question about the pictures for the Products in a shopping cart. I have a website that I'm trying to set-up the cart on and when I put the "item picture" in, there is white space above and below the pic. How do I get rid of that?

(Please don't purchase any of this it for testing only I don't have those products anymore)

Hiya Gyress,

That comes from the fact that your images are a different size/shape than the space for the images in the cart. What I did to combat that was to create my image background to be 400 x 400, in your case create a 400 x 400 image and color it that blue color you're using and place your product image on it and resetup the image in your product and you should be all set to go. Let me know if that isn't clear and I'll try to be more specific :)

Thanks That is as clear as I could have hoped for. I'll get to work on that and see if it works.

Now for another question. How do I change the Button graphics to match my main website? I would like to replace the "Add to Cart" button graphic and I cant see how to do it.

hmm that's a good question, and one I dont' have the answer for, I'll check on that tomorrow and see what I can find out if someone hasn't answered already. I'm not all together sure that that graphic can be changed, but there might be a way around it if not by replacing the graphic itself with a different one of the same name. I'm not 100% sure that it wouldn't get overwritten though so we'll have to see.

Now I have another question about the SCC. I mostly sell single items and dont carry a lot of multiples. Therefore while "testing" my cart I noticed that if one of my items were to be purchased the Quantity is not changed and it "looks" (to anyone visiting my website) like I still have that one item available.

How do I get my cart to "auto update" the quantities or remove the item from view if there is a 0 quantity?
