I created a store for an organization and linked to it from their website. The main page of the store is directly linked from their website as is all the categories.
Trying to understand if I need to add the Google analytics code in the store pages since I have it on the main website.
Seems to me that since all is linked together I don't really need code on the store. Right??
thanks!

In the Google analytics panel it tells you to add the analytic code to any and every page you want google to check. So, I do not think the analytics will apply to the store unless you put their code in it. However, there are alternative analytics that will allow you to do that, like AW Stats.

Yes you have to put it on your store pages
You can put it on the header or footer
It works

Thanks for the info. Will add the code to the store.
Am I missing something to add code to the cart header, or do you do it manually?
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!
My mistake , it goes in the footer !
After I published the shop, i downloaded the php files for the pages, and pasted the google code in just above the /body tag. then pushed the pages back up. works good.
that's a good and valid method , but whenever you update , will it get replaced by the new files with no code ?
Yeah I'm very sure it will get replaced and have to be totally redone again Art. Now.. this may not happen when you next update, but may only happen if you update that page/product, that part I am not sure of as I don't know if the changes are detected by what was changed only in the program, or if it does a compare to the files online at all to see if anything is changed such as file size/date or not. Being changed at all is a pain and unfortunately for some of us, that's just not an option with the number of product pages we have hehe.
HAS anyone tried using the HTML tool to input the code on the product details page at all? I haven't thought to try that myself even till just now. I would think that would work.

There's no need to put it in the product detail pages. Just put the code into the footer and every page of the shop will be analyzed by Google. Keep it simple...
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
