When your customer checks out, they will provide all this information inside of either PayPal or Google Checkout. This will then be in the order details.

Hi Sctoo
Thanks for your reply but I need to know where do I find the order details so we can ship items. Does the cart send back a confirmation email to me or does Paypal advise me or what?
Just need to get this straight in my mind.
Thanks

When you get an order, PayPal or Google Checkout will send the details to what ever e-mail address you have on file with them.
You can also login to either site and look up order information etc.

Scott,
I'm afraid that is not correct. Paypal sends you a confirmation email whenever they process a payment on your behalf. However it only contains the name and the total amount. For example, John smith paid you 123.48.
There is no way to find out through Paypal the details of the order or what the customer purchased.
The order is built within the shopping cart so the cart program must track & report the details of that order somehow.

Now I haven't got my CC store up and running yet, but my experience with Paypal - accepting payments for services - has almost always had the paying customer's address details included in the confirmation of payment.
I actually think that the software should not be collecting those details as they would then be stored on your own computer and/or server and I suspect that would mean getting bogged down in security and privacy issues. I know that my own server does not let me keep certain kinds of "sensitive" information stored in their database.
Don't know what other people's experience is on this one.
Just wanted to add that Scott's comment was right about being able to log in to your Paypal account and see the details of any transactions that have been made on your behalf. That means that you can also pick up the address of the buyer in there. I don't know what the situation is with Google as I have never used them.
Neville asked about order details not customer details.
Paypal does provide customer details in the form of customers name and total paid.
Neville (and myself) are worried about how we, as vendors will have any idea of what the person actually bought.
Getting an email from paypal that states John smith paid you 125.43 does not give me (the store owner) any idea of what John actually bought and therefore what I should ship to him.
The shopping cart is where the order is created. Once the customer clicks "checkout" or "pay now", it feeds into Paypal's system where they deal only in total amount paid to... paid by.
The cart need to generate a report/email copy that feeds this info back to the vendor/store owner.

This cart is designed with no order admin so it makes setting up a site very easy. Anybody can now make a working website in minutes with this software.
The cart should pass all the details you need to PayPal or Google checkout.
I do know what you mean by name and the total amount. This is how PayPal IPN works. Coffee Cup uses PayPal express checkout which is a different PayPal Payment gateway.
Are you running another website with paypal ipn. ?
when you set up Paypal Ipn on a shopping cart it only requries an email address but it needs a website order admin to talk to and collect the order details so you have them.
when you set up paypal express checkout it requries
API Username
API Password
API Signature
but does not need a order admin since it passes all the data to paypal

Looking at coffee cup to use instead of cubecart i use at present
cubecart creates a printable order with item details price address etc.
I cannot find anything on coffee cup that produces these details
and in my experience 1000 + paypal orders, paypal will only provide name address & price, for website orders , But item details as well when an Ebay order
i think this is original point of this question , and it appears not to have been answered
It would be nice to know what to POST to the customer,

Hi Guys
Thanks for the input so far. I also run PayPal for donations to a worthy cause and on the emails I receive for every donation I get the address details of the donor which allows me to write to them with thanks etc. This same website will also be selling products to help offset other costs. We need to know the item, quantity purchased and the shipping details from the shopping cart on checkout after payment has been approved by Paypal. A simple entry to enter the initial quantity for sale would be suitable with autodecrement on each confirmed sale. We do not need a system where you have to lookup each sale on Paypal as the sale will be reported to me in australia and the goods shipped from California by another person. I just need a confirmation from the cart with the details that I can email to the person doing the shipping.
If CC looks at http://www.ezinet.com.au/shop/index.php] they will see our basic cart. The real site where it will go is at http://www.freeschapelle.com.au
Thanks
