Is there a way for me to offer a coupon code upon checkout in cart creator? I have the basic version...is pro needed for this?

This would be a very useful addition. I have a large network of customers who get a 5% discount on all their orders. Currently they would not use my shop as this facility is not available.

I need a coupon/promotion code feature. I have a number of clients who get 10%, 15%, or 20% off services.

This will be a feature in a future update to the Shopping Cart Creator Pro which is in beta testing at the moment. It may not make it into the first release, but shouldn't be long before it's added to a future release of it if it isn't. Should be quite awesome, testing it now and let me tell you it's worth waiting for and then some!

I thought coupons made it into the first pro version (to be released)? I need those coupons man.

We won't know for certain until a feature list is posted. That won't happen until the Pro version is near release.

I'm pretty sure I already saw a response from Scott to someone else asking about the coupon setup, and he said that it wouldn't make it into the official release of the Pro version but that it should be in one of the updates after that. I too am patiently waiting on that feature more than most anything else so hopefully it will be an update that happens soon after the release

That is correct that it will not be in the first release, but it will be one of the next items we will start working on right after release.

In the meantime you can have a simple message on your site that says "please don't ask for discounts, as a slap on the back of the head often offends".

Seriously though, a discount feature has to be well thought out and programmed, to prevent shop owners inadvertently doing something wrong, like putting an extra zero in there to give 100 percent discount, rather than the intended 10 percent. You also have to give shop owners the ability to specify how long the coupon is valid for, and to exclude use on items that are perhaps already being promoted in a sale. A discount module is in effect reducing your profit margins, so it's important that it is both well thought out and practical in use.
