Ok I've used CoffeeCup software for years and it's always been so intuitive; plus I know my way around, but with Shopping Cart Creator I'm stumped right out of the box and it's got to be something simple I'm missing.

So, I start a new shop and pick a nice theme to test like "Cyan Shop". How do I edit that big cow and the text that goes with him? I'm assuming I should be able to replace him with another image and edit the text in that area. Or if use "Deep Red" - I need to edit the text by the camera picture, make it into a link possibly (as indicated by the default text) and maybe change the picture yes? When I go from the 'Products' view to the 'Pages' view I get one big blank text area to work with which I know is the text UNDER the photo area . . . so not sure what to do there either.

I also have Shopping Cart Designer installed, but that doesn't let me edit those areas either.

Read the 'Help' pdf's, which didn't really 'help' all that much.

Please advise; I feel like a n00b after all these years . . .

Shopping cart designer is where you give your shop it's look and shopping cart creator is where you put the actual elements in like text and products. Your header image will be changed in SCD
To get rid of the cow click on it in SCD and then in the Spotlight area properties click on the white x surrounded in red to delete the banner.jpg. The text is part of that image. I know it can be a little confusing about what you do in what program but ounce you get use to it things are easier because after you design your shop the most changes you will make will be done to products and that's handled in SCC. Makes for a cleaner interface.:)

Hi Eric,

I appreciate you helping out on this one - in SCD (not 'pro' btw) if I click on that big blue cow, the menu I get is "Content Properties' - I do not see "Spotlight area properties" as one of the available properties windows in the menu; consequently, there is nowhere that lists the banner.jpg in order to delete or replace it. The picture itself is not selectable apart from selecting the whole content area.

Interestingly enough, when working with this theme in SCD, I do have a tab for a new page called 'optional webpage' that looks like the home page without the banner.jpg - but if I export this as a new theme and load it into SCC I do not see the 'optional webpage' or any way to designate it as the home page.

Hmmmm . ... I need more coffee . . .

Sorry for the confusion I was using SCDP and SCCP. Let me take a look because I do have SCD.:)

I think I remember helping another user with the same issue now. I think I had them upload another image to replace the cow image that they did not have access to in SCD. This would be done in the directory structure of your site. You could make an image with the same dimensions that fits your needs then overwrite the current one.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Are we saying that I should have access to edit that image? Or that the default graphics in the 'Content' portion of the themes cannot be edited with CSD basic version, and everyone who uses 'cyan' theme has text that says www.cyanshop.cow in the default image with no easy way to change it without manually hacking into the files after they have been published? That seems odd.

Now, if the answer then is indeed to purchase SCDP and SCCP to overcome these limitations, let me know. Maybe we can work something out since I just bought these today?? :-)

Yes the only way to address the issue in that theme in SCD is to hack the files. If you just bought them today give CC an email and I'll bet they'll let you upgrade for the difference in price. Pro is the way to go.:)

Eric & Dennis I havn't used SCC or SCD basic for ages

Just run a quick test, the header image, Cyan shop cow, is replaced in SCC by changing the logo image

The BIG picture of the Cyan shop, With The Big COW picture, is replaced in SCD Under > spotlight area properties >and it is banner.png which you just replace with your own banner image png, jpg whatever

And from memory its identical in SCCP & SCDP

Though i agree go for the pro anyway in the long run its much better, all my shops are made with it
Started using CC VSD in January 2009, I don't do HTML code, Sales from CC site exceeding expectations taken me out of semi-retirement
