Ahh but you didn't read my information on my site page there WILL I have already put in place that I will be sending these people an email telling them they have been referred and making sure they agree to receive the emails and giving them the opportunity to opt out at that time without being committed to the list without their consent
You'll soon get to discover that many customers are idiots. Today I had someone send me an email from my site contact form, asking how they could contact me.!!! Before Xmas I had someone accuse me of sending an unsolicited email, when my other cart software automatically generated an order confirmation, for the item they'd just purchased.!!
Sadly if somone hasn't personally requested to be put onto a mailing list, then even an introductory email is still legally classed as spam. May be different in the States, but something worth checking out.

lol ya people are pretty funny sometimes WILL. I'll think about worrying on it if I have any problems with it, but I don't forsee anyone giving too many issues to getting an email confirming if they want to participate or not. I know for myself I'd surely appreciate that instead of people just adding me in without my consent but that's just me. Hopefully most people think that way. It will be worded so that they understand that a friend or family member has referred them to me for my Newsletter and why, and they will also be given information that lets them know that they will not be added without their consent, so hopefully that will help
We will have customers e-mail us saying they are upset about something and not to ever e-mail them again but end it with a question on something else. I never know what to actually say

ROFLMAO, that's a good one Scott, takes all kinds to make the world go around so they say lol
I ended up removing contact information from many of my sites because I'd have people email or call me because they were looking for a dump station, needed help finding a lost item in a rest area, or they thought I was Walmart.
I've never tried a rewards program but did publish a newsletter for four years. Generally, I would see an increase in Google Ad revenue but that was about all -- few book sales. I wish you luck in your endeavors Jo Ann.

Thanks BookPublisher, it's all new to me completely as far as running a business online so it's been a very steep learning curve and experience for me, but hopefully it will pan out eventually
The worst emails I get is my Techsupport ones.... "can you tell me why this is happening ?" ... reply "where did you get these items ?" ... reply "from a buddy! so can you help me ?" .... reply "NO unless your going to pay for them!!, you got my items via a pirate and your asking me to help !!"

BookPublisher is spot on about being careful about what contact information you put on your site. If you are working from home, only put a contact phone number on your site if you are happy for someone from the far side of the world to call you at 2.00am. Similarly be prepared to have every variant of inadequate sales person attempt to sell you every type of useless business 'essential'. I've never had a contact phone number on my sites, but still sell worldwide with no problems at all.
I agree with WILL_UK the other thing to very wary of is showing an email in plain text.... trust me you will get spammed......
If you want to be contacted use Web Form Builder, that way you can pick and choose who you respond to, we've been contacted by lots of different people offering to provide must have services, guarantees that they can get you into the top 10 for searches etc.
One of the bonuses with Web Form builder is it shows the IP of where the contact came from, so you soon check where it originated.
If you work from home, I wouldn't advertise a phone number, unless you call screen everything.
My 2p's worth
