I am trying to create a website to sell a book and individual chapters as pdfs. Does SCC allow for transferring pdfs upon purchase?

I've seen some articles about this feature and I think it is not possible now. But you always may have have a solution. After purchase you supply a link to customer with a temporary user account and password for him to download the file. CC has the application Website Access Manager to help you with this. The possibilities are tremendous.

That would certainly work but the whole process wouldn't be automatic, like when you buy a piece of software online. you get the download link straightaway. Like Leeswann, I want to sell PDF material as a downloadable product. Hopefully following versions will have downloadable products.

But with user account you can maintain the file available to buyer the time you want.

When a customer purchases an electronic product, they expect immediate availability. While workarounds may be possible, none are ideal as they require manual intervention. We are told that SCC Pro will, at some point, have the capability of handling electronic products. I currently use another cart program that is designed specifically for managing downloadable products (although it can manage tangible products, too). Is there any update on releasing an e-product download feature for SCC Pro? I would appreciate it if a CC rep would respond to this thread and let everyone know two things:

a) Is CC actively developing code for this feature now?
b) If you are, would you please give us an estimated release date?

For me at least, this will help me determine whether I should invest in an existing shopping cart system that handles file downloads before I spend time and money configuring a store with SCC Pro.

I can only vaguely answer this at the moment. Yes, we plan on implementing this type of feature but I cannot give a date on when it will be ready.

Hi Scott. I appreciate your forthrightness and I'm glad at least to hear that it's on the feature wishlist, if not being coded yet.

For timing then, I'll interpret that to mean that we're at least a year away from this feature. I look forward to when it gets added. It will be very welcomed I'm sure, because selling downloaded files is the simplest way to earn money online.

In the meantime I will start searching for an interim solution that will hold me over until then. If you or anyone else has any suggestions about reasonably priced file product shopping cart solutions, that would be helpful.

Word is out that version 4.0 of the Shopping Cart Creator Pro will include the downloadables feature so hang in there guys, it's coming. 'Course I dunno when 4.0 is planned lol, but at least we do know it's coming and what version it will be in!
