SEO and Shopping Cart

Here is whats happening. Me and another person here on the thread I know of, are having a similar issue as it relates to Google Webmaster Tools and the Shopping Cart. Yesterday, I was going through my web tools account and I noticed that I had some 300 broken links/errors on a clients site I had built with the shopping cart. The thing is, the links don't actually exist and they never have.

For example, it is telling me that I have some 300 errors on these "/cart.asp" files. I don't use .asp and I don't think CC does either. I am not sure first of all why all of these "ghost links" are being created somehow and becoming 404 errors. Its degrading my ranking. Is anyone having a similar issue as it relates to SEO and the shopping cart. If not, and you run Google webmaster tools could you check yours to see if anyone is getting the same errors.

Believe it or not Eric, all those errors I was/am getting (most are gone now lol still have a dozen I think that should be gone soon out of the 46 there were in the end lol), none of them are from the cart at all, they were all from the blog. I haven't ever had any 404's from the cart. But... I did have 404's from the Sitemapper. Check there maybe? The Sitemapper did give me a lot of 404's before. I think most of that has been fixed, but doesn't hurt to check?

The thing is all of the files are coming up in a programming language I don't use. How is that even possible.

No clue you lost me there completely, but then I had all I could do to figure out what to do with the errors I had with your help lol. Wish I could help you back on this one, but I don't know languages well enough to know why it would do that. Especially if you aren't using that language to begin with. I don't believe the SCC system uses ASP files either. Could it be the server itself that has messed it up?

Maybe try removing the shop completely and reuploading it?

Shopping Cart Creator doesn't use asp files. To use those you'd need an asp enabled server to run them. Cart Creator runs on php and javascript, so there shouldn't be any references at all to asp, as none of the SCC files use that extension.

I think I'd be inclined to check out the Google Webmaster forums as its highly likely that the errors are being generated by their software, rather than Coffeecup's.

I know. I am attaching my webmaster error sheet for people to review. PlanetDVR is a clients security store. So almost the entire site is built with CC's store. Check it out and let me know what you all think. Again, I do not use .asp and never have.

I have figured it out. thanks for all who were looking into this for me.

The .asp files were remnants from my clients previous server. They just have not cleared Google's system.

Thanks again.

*knows that feeling well* lol, I'm down to 5! out of 46! lol..... but....

I still have only 12 indexed? *looks totally perplexed and confused cuz she's got way more than 12 links on her site and pages too*

I think I'm going to put a ticket in and see if someone can help me see if the Sitemapper is picking up my site correctly or not. I'm not sure if all those broken lines in the Sitemap tree mean anything or not, but dunno what else to try now to get it to index the rest of the pages.
