I am probably out of my depth here because I have set up my website with no knowledge of HTML. I am using a WYSIWYG website creation program. I have managed to work out how to get code in where I want it as I have got seperate Paypal "Buy it Now" buttons set up for each product However because I now have several programs for sale by download I need to set up a cart so people can choose which programs they want to buy. Setting up the cart is not my problem I think I can work this out. My problem is how to make the programs available for download once the customer has paid for them. This was easy to do as a single item sale as the redirect would take the customer to my page where the file was located. I had each file located in different directories. Mt website is hosted by 3iX and all my files are located on their server. Is it possible for me to use coffeecups shop creator to set up multiple downloadable items so that the customer is presented with only the downloads that they have purchased. For anyone interested in how my site works now the address is www.mbs.id.au/software/purchase.htm
Thanks in advance for help given

OK, I believe I have found my answer in the upcoming realease of ver 3.5 post of shopping cart. Electronic download will be available after 3.5 is released. It will be an extra module by the sounds of it.

Hi,
I have been selling software for some time, one example is http://inkmon.org approximatly 300 uniques a day. Your history seems simular to mine I started programming to assist me in engineering and it to becam a hoby now I am retired.
I use Buy Now buttons as there is no inventory involved.
As an idea consider a welcome page with perhaps your items listed. Links can be made to a description page which better describes your items and what they do.
There is a couple of things that have helped me one and I am not associated with CC but their form builder is a great asset it is easier than trying to create form mail yourself. Not that it is not easy just takes too long to create a nice form. Give your prospective customers chance to ask questions.
I went to great trouble once encrypting my downloads and then supplying passwords in an email. I stopped that. There are millions of people and I find that those copies that do go astray do not really matter.
Now as there is no worries with inventry the Shopping cart program is ideal just as it is. I would consider creating paypal buttons in the html box to allow your customers to use alternate means of payment.
Give something away free. I often create two versions one as a trial and one full version.
It took me two years to gradually get noticed and only now are sites linking to my site My ratio of sales are about 0.5% of hits.
Lastly if your software is a bit involved and has a number of uses set up a Yahoo forum.
To get noticed help others on forums like this. Why am I here?. I use Form Builder and am hoping the shopping cart will eventually do what I want.
My shop http://mrtworld.com hoping to convert it to the CC version ASAP.

Gidday terry, I read somewhere else that I should close the post once the question is answered and I was just about to do that when I noticed someone responded. Mate it is uncanny how our stories are alike. I followed some of your links around and found it interesting. The software you make is way different to mine and believe it or not I too have a garagesale site. I find it way better to sell through than E-Bay. I just put a small add on E-Bay that points to my garagesale and visitors come from everywhere. So I also have links to my other sites on my garagesale site so I also get some traffic across these as well. I just one hour ago updated my purchase page that I talked about in an earlier post. I was very interested in the shop builder as you know but I will have to wait I think till next year before an electronic download feature is available. However I downloaded the trial version of it and I gotta say it is pretty good. I can't wait for a version that will suit what I want to do. I went threw the themes and found one I really liked so I tried to replicate it with the current software I use, I think a reasonable result was achieved. I am currently trying to copy my site with VSD but allas I think I may have to stick with what I have. VSD has some excellent stuff it can do but my current app does some stuff it can't, can't have everything I suppose. I am going to get some CC software when I return to Australia in particular the media player as I will have a lot of video content that I plan to make. I am raving on a bit here so I better end up, thanks for your response and goodluck with your web sites.
I am also looking at setting up a website that has a shop that has the ability to pay for dowloadable videos..
but am yet to find a shopping cart that enables me to do this ..
this is the process i would like it all to go in..

We really do not have anything like that either. The pro version will be able to handle some sort of digital downloads, but we are still working on the details on how to best accomplish that.

Hi there,
I am currently looking for a shop with download capabiity too. Basically I would like to ability for people to download a zip file containing PDF documents after going through the checkout. Either they would have one chance to download or be given a link that works for 5 days (preferred).
Any idea when this "Pro" version is slated for (i.e. weeks, months). I really need to get moving on it so may need to go the way of an online service via an ISP. I would prefer to be throwing my money at you guys though!
Thanks
Graham

I really hate to commit to a date on the Pro version at this time. We are working hard on it as we speak and hope to have it ready by the end of summer.

As a tempory fix if you add a paypal button (BuyNow) created on the paypal site with a success link to say http://yourdomain.com/program.zip in the html section it will do what you want. The downside is there will still be a unused add to cart button visable.
A Buynow button is suitable as there is no limit to copies sold. If it where possible to remove this icon the version 3.5 could be coaxed to handle all requirements even an inventry add on.
I am still working on a way to use this super concept so I can use it for my shop.

Hi,
I have found a great FREE php script that allows digital downloads from your site either by using buttons of your own or using basic shopping carts like CoffeeCup shopping cart creator. The script is simple with just a few settings, it provides an email to the customer with the download as an attachment as well as an encrypted link to the download file which you can set to be available for a period of your choice. This script seems to be very secure with inbuilt checks provided to make sure that the product has been paid for. I am happy to provide anyone with the script if they want it.
You can find out more information and request me to email the script from my blog on my website. You will find the blog listed under "other information" as "Fardon from down under"
