I want to add some nice transition effects to objects and text in various places on a page as they come into view when the page is scrolled - just like the current CC home page has (rotation, slide in, "appear" (from transparent to opaque), etc.).

I don't see any way to do it in the transitions or states functions in RSD.

Can it be done without custom coding?

Its called "out of view"

you select the element you want to apply the transition to
then move over to the "styles" panel
move down to the section "In State" open the menu, and select "Out Of View"

go ahead and apply whatever transaction you want to that element

(tip<<< it is worth applying an additional class name first, then should you require the same transition to other elements., you only need then to apply the class name to the other element)

If you wish to set transaction timings then re-select the
"in state" REGULAR,
move over to the tab "EFFECTS"

open the "all transitions" tab
there you can select the actual transition you did, set the function ease or ease in ease out or both, set the transition time, and any transition delay as required.

One can achieve some really nice transitions this way (similarly with the "in state" HOVER"

I have a video tutorial all about this (although not covering every transition that can be done just some basics) unfortunalely my hosting service is shut down for 2 days so I will have to put it up onto YouTube, let me know if anyone is interested in following a video tutorial & I will see what I can do.

I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I've played with the suggestions below. I've never had a problem loading transitions, https://animate.style/ has plenty included.

What I have been unable to figure out is how to make the transition go when the browser shows it. All of mine fire when the page is loaded and not when the user scrolls to it.

I'm again surprised that such a staple of website design has no true support, examples, tutorials or components included in the software or support forums.

Are you using a animations from the sample link? Or creating your own animation. Never been a problem for me using out of view state and I have done hundreds over the years.

Ed, the transitions on the site you are referring to seem to override the out-of-view effect of Site Designer (or Responsive Site designer, whichever of them you have). I have just tried to make something from that site turn up after scrolling to it, but I'm not able to. Maybe Wayan, the wizard here, hehe, is able to get it to work...

The problem is those transitions from that site are not really meant for anything "OUT OF VIEW" you can add a transition delay but then its anybody's guess what that delay should be

You could add another custom CSS or JS code which will fire off the transition after a number od pixels have been scrolled, but then that's like using a big sledgehammer to crack a peanut.

Also not sure why one would use them anyway as most of them can be achieved using Transitions , out of view state and timings
