Editing text elements (header,...

We heard some people had difficulties initiating 'editing mode'. When an element is selected Responsive Site Designer offers 3 ways to start the text editor:

1. Triple click the text element. Since this is done by double click in Layout Maker, this is very likely part of the confusion. The reason we switched to triple click is that we found that access to the design pane is more often needed than access to the text editor. It might simply be 'some getting used to', please give this some time. The other methods of starting the editor are:

2. Right click on the text element. Then select 'Edit Text'

3. Click on the pencil on the design pane. (See blue square on image below)

If any of these methods gives problems, please let us know. (Please include what OS you are using and what version of RSD you have installed).

Thanks everybody!

Right clicking and choosing Edit Text does not work for me, nor does typing Ctrl+T. Triple clicking and using the Pencil Icon do work.

As mentioned in earlier thread, selecting and editing text by "triple-click" only works randlomly for me. Right click "Edit text" and "Ctrl-T" does not work at all.

Selecting and editing other parts of RSD works nicely and I really like RSD so far :-).

Following Bob's instructions
1. Triple click the element then click to where you want the edit cursor in the text you want to edit, works for me.
2. Right Click on the text element. Then select Edit text. Does not work for me.
3. Click on the pencil in the design pane, then click to where you want the edit cursor in the text element you want to edit, works for me.

System Windows 8.1 64bit.

Could 'Right click on the text element. Then select Edit text' currently only work on the Mac version not the Windows version?

Same here. Sometimes triple-clicking randomly works, but most often not - neither does right-click 'edit' or 'CTRL+T'.

Seems like the element gives me one or two chances at editing, then it decides to 'lock-up' permanently and editing becomes impossible. Triple-clicking too many times froze the program once and I lost unsaved work. Won't be doing THAT again in a hurry! When it won't edit, it's easier/quicker to delete the 'locked-up' element and add it again. It allows me to triple-click and edit - maybe. Clunky and not the ideal solution, but it saves messing around for minutes on end trying to get 'edit' to work. If I try to edit the newly added element more than once, maybe twice, I risk 'locking-up the element all over again. Something's definitely wrong and I'm also struggling to get my head around how a lot of the other software 'features' work without any help files or tutorials yet.

I also wanted to replace the images with my own and after clicking all over the place on the downloaded 'the_coast.rsd', I finally found the 'frambozen.jpg' by clicking on the topmost 'Row' element and adding my own 'local' topmost image but I've spent hours clicking every square inch on the display trying to find out where I can replace the other images - i.e. the 'fixed' background images: 'spices-cropped.jpg', 'vibe.jpg' and the sliding 'sunset-cropped.jpg' at the bottom of the page. Given up. Can't work out how to do it myself.

Help! Anybody worked out how to do any of the above yet?

Alright, thanks for the input. We'll look into the right click thing 1st thing tomorrow morning, should be easy to address. The triple click might be more of a challenge...luckily the pencil method always works :P

Thanks Bob. Any idea on how/where I can access/change the images (mentioned above) in downloaded 'the_coast.rsd' example that I'm cutting my learning teeth on, so to speak? I've nailed all the other CoffeCup software I've purchased and I'm keen to use this software as I already have a new client/job lined up that I'd like to use this software on. I'll send CC a link soon as I've done it.

They are background images, with a column using semi-transparent background on top of them. The inspector pane might help here too. You can select each element and see the applied styles below, including background (image) styles. I mean, I can tell you exactly where they are...but finding them yourself will serve you better long term ;)

That's awesome to hear! Don't keep this a secret though, the more people that know about and use RLM/RSD, the better we can make these apps :D
