Is there a way to stop the 'update'...

I was asked 'why would you not want to do this?'

Does that really matter, sure some people may want to keep upgrading it wasn't a criticism of everyday users who find the software helpful. Some however do not want to upgrade the software and were lured by the advert.

The software perfectly fits the description of 'nagware' it matters not the time taken for it to become so. Sure, I own it forever, but to me at least it gave the impression it would be mine forever without it transforming into nagware, I think that's a perfectly ordinary assumption.

I don't mind paying for upgrades either, I used Serif software for a long while and usually skipped the evolutionary upgrades and went an edition or two before I upgraded, but not once did it have an unremovable 'nag-box' to do so.

All I'm asking for is a way to stop the nag-box, is that really so unreasonable?

If they can give out a 'code' to stop it as you suggested they once did, why not just add a 'do not remind me again' tick box, wouldn't that be so simple for people like me to live with the software, and perhaps purchase an upgrade when it's revolutionary rather can evolutionary?

This would actually be a very good idea I think. You should be able to check a box or something that says you would not like to upgrade don't remind me again. I have seen this in other software before too.

And to your other comment:
"Wow, perhaps because upgrading costs money. and your software blast on the main page is ''pay once, own it forever'' you make a big deal out of this and put it centre stage."

I do not work for CoffeeCup I am a user just like you. There are a few of us here that like to give back to the community offering our time for free to help others. Your questions are always welcome, however the best way to complain is to submit a support ticket so the Management of Coffeecup see the concerns.
