Hi, Haven't used responsive site designer yet but have a couple of questions. I do my websites the old fashioned way with a wysiwyg editor. I am using a combination of percentages and css for responsive design but really need something else as My tables and columns don't look so great. I know people don't like tables but is necessary with this particular website that has 3 generation horizontal pedigrees. From what I have found out about breakpoints it couldn't be done for this.
Go here to see what I mean http://www.rottweilers-on-line.com/deta … digree.htm

Any of the responsive programs (RSD,RBB,RFF) would work for your site.
They all use a grid system that could easily handle your table cells without using a table.
Could the table information be displayed "rotated" clockwise 90 degrees, so that it was two columns and vertical for mobile devices?

The use of three tabs, one for each generation is also a nice way to display your information using these new programs.

Rugrotts, the flex boxes that are built into RSD work great for converting tables. Once you get the hang of them, they work great for dividing up space and staying responsive. The guide below shows some examples.

Hello all.

I Like to share my first website made with RSD. The website is about funeral services (not the nicest theme ;-)) and the language is in Dutch.
Just take a look and let me know your opinion about my first RSD attempt :-)

Very nice and peace inducing site. One thing I would do is make the font size a bit larger. On phones it is hard to read.

Hi Gert,

always a challenge, designing something beautiful for such clients, isn't it? It certainly looks fresh, so thumbs up on that! There are some 'technical' things you might want to touch up though.

http://coffeecup.rvanheukelum.com/mobile-view-uitvaartzorg-louissen.png
    • On mobile view the layout seems to be out of center (it shifts to the right)
    • The header -or rather all above the menu- is too high for my taste
    • The mobile menu should be on top of the page, simply because currently it's even underneath the center of the page for starters, second when opening the menu the content disappears outside the bottom of my screen
    • The phone number for emergencies should be more visible, make it look like a (flat) button, make it more stand out
    • I really think the font size should be increased up to 16 at least with a nice line height, simply because their target clientele are elderly people, and it's just more pleasant to read

But overall ... it really looks great, nice work!

Hi Richard,

Yes. These kind of clients are always a little bit more challenging... but she is very happy with the result. And when my client is happy, I'm happy :D
Thanx for your comment and the thumbs up. I fixed some "technical" points you mentioned
  • Mobile view out of center - Fixed it
  • Header (top) is less high and made some chances with the phone number. I made it button like and integrated it into the header. The mobile menu is now more to the top.

  • [*] Font size for the mobile view is increased to 16px

The mobile view looks a lot better now..hope you agree.
    Thanx,
    Gert

    The result is very pleasing!

I have noticed that you Dutch people have a certain 'nose' for nice design. There are several of you here, and I've seen many amazing results! :D
