What do you think for an Buildin Editor for modify, delete, add the HTML5, CSS and JS code?.
What is your opinion therein that you can also adjust, add, etc. HTML code, CSS3 code and JS through an internal code editor?

We live in the HTML5 era and no longer in the HTML4 era because they have always been asked for a long time to add all input HTML5 controls and attributes in the Site Designer.

I am a relatively new user of the Coffee Cup applications including Site Designer (about 5 months usage, though not continuous). I purchased the Responsive Design Pack along with the Windows SEO and HTML Editor. I decided to purchase all of the applications because I wanted to get a feel for the complete Coffee Cup product line.

I am a software developer by trade (Java, C#, PHP, Python, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, FileMaker, etc.), and I sometimes like to use visual design tools to help create templates to be used in other programming languages. I was a Dreamweaver user many years ago, back in the Macromedia days (before Adobe got their hands on both Dreamweaver and Fireworks). I also use Bootstrap Studio (I have a lifetime license for that one) and Blocs app on the Mac. Normally I use IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code for front end development.

My uses and wishes for a product like Site Designer, as a developer, are probably different than what others need or hope for. For many tasks, coding in an IDE with a live viewer extension can be quicker and easier, but there are times when a visual design tool, like Site Designer, can really come in handy.

I really enjoy using Site Designer, and think it is a great product. There are several things, however, that I would love to see addressed.

1. I would like to see Coffee Cup consolidate its offerings into a more cohesive single application experience. Site Designer, Responsive Email Designer, Form Designer, and Responsive Content Slider should be rolled up into one application. Functionality seems to be similar between them, and they would be much more enjoyable to use if all of these features were available in one application, and kept up to date at the same pace. At the very least I would like to see Site Designer's form controls gain some more options (placeholders for input fields please). I work with Bootstrap often, and can't use Form Designer since Bootstrap is not a supported framework. I end up turning to hand coding in an IDE instead of using Site Designer often due to this.

2. I agree with others that Site Designer should come pre-installed with more framework component elements. It is not difficult to create Site Designer components out of the framework components, but I think built-in Site Designer components would offer more flexibility and reuse with options for these components built into the UI. I know that Bootstrap major releases historically last many years, so any effort in developing this in Site Designer should provide a lot of mileage out of the effort involved.

3. I would like to see a project wide setting for enabling / disabling wireframe-theme.css and any Site Designer specific css classes that get automatically included during an export. When I use a framework, I would like an option to have the generated code use this framework exclusively without any extraneous classes.

4. I often use Site Designer on a smaller 4k monitor with scaling enabled under Windows 10. I am not sure if it is because of this, but many parts of the Site Designer UI are tiny and really too small to see without really putting my nose almost to the monitor. These include things like the element tree, styles pane, and page settings where we get to enter custom css and javascript code. The rest of the UI, though, seems fine (and some things like the navigation bar at top almost seems too big).

5. Stefke mentioned a builtin editor for HTML and Javascript. I would love to see this as well, however I would settle for a resizable window that allows me to see more of my code. Right now, on my setup, the entry areas for these are really too small.

With all that being said, I don't want to give the impression that I am disappointed in any way with Site Designer. I really think it is a great tool, and think Coffee Cup software is a fantastic company. These are just some observations from a user (perhaps with unique use cases) with 5 months under his belt using Coffee Cup's suite of products.

Mike, if you haven't already done so, it would be a good idea to send your post directly to the CC staff. They are few, and they don't come to the forum regularly.

I found your post very interesting, and what I wonder is, what effect it would have if the wireframe-theme.css were disabled. I've seen that SD uses a lot of code e.g. when inserting an image (much more that I would have done manually in the HTML Editor), and because of that, it happens that classes given to the image can't be targeted by the css.
I also agree that some windows in the app are too tiny, I'm especially thinking of the code window where you place custom html. It ought to pop out and become larger.
We used to have the 'placeholder' as an attribute, but it was removed at a time when Chrome did not support it. I think it can safely be put back now.

I don't have your developer background, but 23 years of making websites, experience with DW pre Adobe, 14 years of Coffeecup apps, and about 5 years of using their responsive apps, here's my tuppence worth.

Preprocessors like Sass and Less can be useful in manual coding. In the 'non-coding' apps like SD I don't see where it can be used, unless it is baked into the programme by the programmers.

Built-in classes can't you use in Vanilla CSS Framework

When is this even included waiting there for a long time and we are already on Site Designer v3.50.
According to me never come.

I already have some experimented with this framework and see that it is loaded very quickly and that you have many more possibilities and extensive possibilities than the current CSS/JS Frameworks such as Foundation, bootstrap, Vanilla and Materialize
You can include this framework in the next update of Site Designer v3.50
