OK, I'm officially confused here. My site at http://ColoradoProcessServers.net is at Hostgator and I edit it in Wordpress, as several of you know. Wordpress has a sitemap plugin that I've been using, but I found out that it wasn't officially submitting it, just creating it. So I submitted it to Google recently. Fine.

Then we were talking here, in a different thread, about CC Sitemapper and how to do a decent looking ( not just for bots ) map for my site, which might help the SEO too, and how I should link it to the main page.

So I just had a little time and used Sitemapper to create one with a theme and all that pretty stuff. So I uploaded it to the root directory at Hostgator, but all I can find is
http://coloradoprocessservers.net/sitemap.xml which I THINK is the one the plugin created. Doesn't look like the theme one. In fact my Control Panel File Manager seems to be saying that the one I uploaded from Sitemapper is called Colorado Process Servers.html but I don't know how to "see" it when I go to my web site, so I can determine the link to add.

Am I all confused about the proper path, or what?

When you uploaded the Sitemap from Sitemapper you said you uploaded it to the "ROOT" directory... Is your root set to / or public_html/

Look in your Control panel file manager, and go up a folder until you are in the actual root directory not just the public_html, and see if it was uploaded there.

Well it's actually called /home/melissab That's where Sitemapper uploaded the stuff. ( here's a screen shot ) But the main stuff seems to reside in that www folder at the bottom, I just cant figure how to get Sitemapper to upload it there.

Yep that works just fine, and you can choose a different theme too if you don't like the tree look, but that works just fine

Like I mentioned, the plugin for Wordpress generates and XML site map regularly, but doesn't upload it, so I must stay up with that.

As far as an html sitemap, it seems like my navbar menu is perfect for that, no?

So what advantage is there for me, in even doing CC Sitemapper for this particular site?

Well the site map XML file is really the only site map you "need" to be using, the rest is just for aesthetics if you want to have it shown on your site. The XML file is needed to upload to Google and if Wordpress is already doing that for you then you don't really need the CC program for the Wordpress one. If it's generating the sitemap but not uploading it you just need to upload it to Google yourself.
