Shopping Cart Creator needs to have the ability to set the inital charge for postage and then another amount for each additional item, even if it is a different item.

I'm confused here, this is already in there isn't it? I'll have to open the program now to check, but I could swear that you can set the shipping amount and then also have a selection at the bottom of the shipping settings where you can choose to add X amount of cash per item added to the cart. Is this not the same thing?

That was my first thought too. If you uncheck the "use default option" then you can add an upcharge for a particular item.

I'm still in the setup process of populating inventory but I've set a base price and then use add for each item. If anyone else has done this and it doesn't work I'd like to hear from you.

By way of example: USPS Priority is 4.35 for the standard rate. I set my base price to 4.30 and then have an add amount for each item of .05 (small items) to .75 (large item that would require the next larger Priority mail box.

I am finding that for physical products the weight system in the SCC Pro is working exceptionally well. I just add in the weight for every item and the postage is all worked out according to the accumulated weight of all the goods added into the cart.

So Janys, how do you come up with the price per ounce, pound, or whatever you have set in your software for weight? How or where did you get these numbers? I checked put your website, awesome by the way, and I like your shipping setup. Would like to know how you did it, in specifics!!

Thanks,
Steve

Every item I add to the site gets weighed, allowing those couple of grams extra for the packing as mentioned previously. Then when I set up the details for each product, I use the "More options" over on the right of the application interface to add in the weight, and check for it to show up on the product page so that the potential customer can actually check out the details for themselves if they feel so inclined.

Get hold of all the shipping costs/weights etc from your chosen shipping company (UPS?) and break them down into areas of personal interest according to location and maximum weights. You will do this according to where you are prepared to ship to, and what the maximum weight of your own product is. I got my list of shipping costs from my local post office, and I bet most of these are available online somewhere.

In the shipping window (access from icon at top of application interface) choose weight (from the drop down list) as your shipping calculation
Decide what kind of shipping methods you want to offer... in my specific case I have chosen Priority and Registered mail and have added these 2 to my list
I have then added a few locations (edit locations at bottom of location list) ... namely, Italy, United Kingdom, European Union, United States, Rest of World and Mediterranean Basin... I chose these as they had slightly different costs but were generic enough to cover almost everywhere I was prepared to mail to.
Then comes the tedious bit... go and edit the range (top right of the actual costs for destinations table) according to the UPS weights' table and costs, and add in the different cost for each destination for each weight range. For instance - from 0 gms to 100 gms / from 101 gms to 200 gms / from 201 gms to 300 gms etc. A bit of a pain, but once you have done that, you won't have to touch it again unless the transport company changes their rates which hopefully won't be too often.

Hope that helps... and do feel free to check these details out on the site to test how it all works.
:)
ps. Many thanks for the compliment - much appreciated!

Thanks again Janys.
The more I think about it, with the tedious hassle involved with setting up shipping, I am going to get everything else done with my shopping cart; items, photos, prices, weights, and by the time I get all that done I hope CC will have come out with an upgrade to SCCP that will automate the shipping and I will not have to do all this tedious stuff. Gee, you think they heard me??? :D

In my opinion, this software is fantastic, it just lacks the one thing; easy shipping.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
