I know coffeecup has a live chat program but i would like to see an IRC version made.

the best current free applet out there i think is http://www.pjirc.com/main.php

and a paid version http://www.jwirc.com/

why is this method of live chat good? because it uses NO website/server resources to run it. the end user is simply loading an applet and the actually chat is being run on one of the many remote servers setup for IRC.
