Ok guys and girls who are running Win 8 does any of you know how to get rid of that ridiculous and annoying thing that keeps cropping up on the right regardless of what you do? The thing is ironically named "charm bar" I really don't see the charm but is the most irritating thing. When I mean get rid of I mean get rid of, not "Classic Shell" which does nothing for it. Any ideas??

I'll have to update to 8.1. I've had to get a new laptop over the last few months, couldn't find anything with Win7 on which I like, anyway I got an Lenova laptop, boy did that do my head in, couldn't download Win 8.1 couldn't work on it at all, so took it back the couldn't find a flaw on it and said it was because I wasn't downloading updates, which I said was absolute nonsense. So I took screen shots and videos to prove my point so they exchanged it to the one I'm using, have only had it a few weeks but is really good, I've changed all the settings but can't get rid of that bar, thanks for the vid Eric, pity you can't rid of the bar completely though :( never mind it will be better

I almost went back to win 7 but I use short cut keys more and have gotten more familiar with win8 so it's not so bad. Win 8 is just a major change from how all the other win os's worked so it takes longer to get up to speed.

I agree totally Eric. I think for youngsters who love their devices 8 probably lends itself to that interface, or metro thing they call it. I do use Classic Shell to get to the interface that I prefer, but it doesn't seem to work with the charm. I think it came as a bit of a shock to see it like that coming from all the other OS, I've used quite a few with Linux and stuff but nothing quite like this :P:cool:

True launch bar is your friend :P I've been using it for about a year now and would be totally lost without it. Much more powerful than the classic shell is. Work like a "charm" (pun intended haha) when you run it on a second monitor where you always have access to it even when running full screen software or movies on the main screen.

As for the charm bar I hardly ever notice it as it's hardly ever invoked on my screens. What are you doing that is making it drive you crazy so bad lol.

 ha ha pun intended nice one. Are you using a PC or a laptop? apparently although I don't know but it's not as bad on PC, but you just move the touch pad or even if you don't it appears, it has a mind of my own. It's not just me, my wife as well, the charm bar has 666 on :P

I completely agree on that 'charmless' bar, and anything else that win8 has tucked away in the corners. A real pain in the butt.

Oh it's really annoying, they should at least give an option, but oh no
