Colorbox verses Visual Lightbox

Howdy-
I'm venturing a little bit outside of the Coffee Cup box and looking at using Colorbox or Visual Lightbox to make some galleries. I got Lightbox to work but Colorbox is confusing. The latter issue aside, which of these two programs are best and why?

Also, both seem to use Jquery to operate. Does that mean if a website visitor has javascript turned off in their browser (for security purposes), that my galleries won't show up for them?

Some might argue one is lighter than the other but I guess it boils down to preference.

Both require javascript to be enabled in the browser.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

I can definitely tell you it's down to ease of use, and Colorbox doesn't have ease of use at all. Not for a new person to using scripts and such. The Visual Light Box which now is equipped with a really nice application rather than coding which it was a few months back is not only easy to use, but it has a lot of settings you can do to make your gallery look slick. No coding is really needed, but if you're using VSD you may need to manipulate the code to put into the HTML Tool or whatever tools you would need to use in VSD for this. In HTML it will put it directly on the page for you (but I've had to adjust a line of code here and there so I finally created my own box of code to insert it in so I knew exactly where it was going and what code I needed to move/delete after hehe. But it's very easy to do either way.

Best way to be sure is to check it out. They are both free from what I know about them (haven't looked at colorbox in a while, but I know the vlb is free) so check them both out and see what works best for you.

I like visual light box, but the easiest I found is shadowbox.js.

I've started playing around with my Picasa. There's lots of templates available and the XML file can be customized to fit your needs. Picasa has ftp built right in.

Here's my first experiment

Here's one site that has templates.

thanks

Hi, I made some videos with Corel VideoStudio ProX4 and I want to put maybe 10 thumbnails on a page so that when you click on one the video opens and plays. The website is made with VSD and I am wondering if there are any tips to making shadowbox work in VSD. It usually takes me a while to learn something new and hopefully use it before I forget how I did it. Any simple directions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Give me a little time when I get home from work and I'll setup one on my site so I can point you in the correct direction.:)

Thank you Rolly. I really appreciate all the lessons you provide for us. I don't know where I would learn so much if it were not for your kind help.
